Review: STILA In The Light Eye Shadow Palette

This was my first ever Stila purchase and boy am I glad I bought this! This amazing eye shadow palette comes with 10 eye shadows and a Smudge Stick Eye liner that is waterproof. I bought this on whim at Sephora a while back because I was dying to wear the infamous shade Kitten (which has to be one of the most gorg shade ever). I decided to get a neutral tone palette as it’s super versatile to incorporate into my lifestyle. There’s a mixture of matte and shimmery shades in the palette, which appealed to me the most. The shades are wearable for day and night. You can also use the shadows wet or dry, which is my favourite thing to play around with! It’s also included with a look book on how to create shades (which unfortunately I lost on a trip). The 10 eye shadows are described as Bare (matte ivory), Kitten (shimmering nude pink), Bliss (matte nude), Sunset (copper shimmer), Sandstone (matte neutral brown), Champagne (pale gold shimmer), Gilded Gold (bronze with gold shimmer), Luster (deep gray with gold shimmer), Night Sky (slate blue with silver shimmer) & Ebony (matte black). The Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye liner is a limited edition and is described as matte chocolate-brown. I have to say Kitten, Sunset and Night Sky are my absolute favourites. At $50 (CDN), this is a pretty good palette. The whole palette is extremely pigmented. In fact, all the swatches you are seeing are just one swipe of the shadow, so clearly the colour pay off is amazing. The eye liner is also fantastic. It’s creamy, pigmented, it glides well and it is insanely waterproof. My only downside with this palette is the fact that the palette doesn’t come with a mirror. Also, some of the shimmery/glittery colours do have a bit of product fall out (which isn’t a huge deal for me, you need to have a good primer to avoid this). You can purchase this at any Sephora stores or online!

Happy Shopping Dolls! x

Pros:

  • Pigmented eye shadow colours
  • Matte eye shadows are heavily pigmented (minus Ebony)
  • Versatile palette (create both day/night looks)
  • Comes with a great Eye liner & look book
  • Buttery soft texture of both the shadows and eye liner
  • Glides on with one stroke

Cons:

  • Price
  • No mirror in the packaging
  • Some of the glittery shades have a bit of a fallout
  • Ebony (matte black) is pigmented but not as heavily compared to the 9 other shades

Rating: 9/10 (This is a fantastic versatile palette. Some of the shades have become my daily favourites. The only downside is that there is no mirror in the palette, which would’ve been ideal for a palette like this, but other than that the shadows are fantastic.)
