Hi Dolls! Hope you’re all well. If you haven’t checked out my last blog post, make sure you do right here. As always, make sure to follow me on all my socials listed at the bottom of this page as well as on the right hand side of this website!
What is it?
YSL is one of the most coveted and prestigious beauty lines that have been around for decades. I still remember being 4 years old and watching my mom swipe on her YSL classic matte red lipstick before heading off to a party (I’m pretty sure genetics is one of the reasons why I’m obsessed with YSL..lolz). Anyways, this year they’ve put together a lip set consisting of 4 full size lip products. You get their rouge pur couture lippie in the shade 52 Rosy Coral, Glossy stain in the shade 12 Corail Fauve, Volupte Sheet candy in 4 Succulent Pomegranate and their Rouge Volupte Shine in the shade 12 Corail Incandescent. As you can see, all four lip products are a shade of coral.
Swatches
Rouge Pur Couture in #52 Rosy Coral: This is your typical true coral shade that is supposed to be super pigmented with a satin finish.
Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stain in #12 Corail Fauve: This is your redish coral shade that’s a lip gloss/lip stain duo.
Volupte Sheer Candy in #4 Succulent Pomegranate: It’s a sheer glossy lip balm that’s supposed to be a sheer bright pink.
Rouge Volupte Shine in #12 Corail Incandescent: This is a bright Cajun coral that’s a medium coverage lippie that gives you colour and shine in one swipe.
My Verdict?
Rouge Pur Couture in #52 Rosy Coral: This shade is nice and the perfect true coral. The only down side is that it’s not as pigmented as I thought it was going to be, but you can def layer the lipstick for more colour.
Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stain in #12 Corail Fauve: I love this lip colour. I find that it does what it’s supposed to do, plus it’s a really pretty stain on your lips in the Fall!
Volupte Sheer Candy in #4 Succulent Pomegranate: This is completely sheer to the point where you don’t even see a little bit of colour on your lips (which is understandable given it is from their lip balm line). I don’t think I’d buy any lipsticks from this line on its own BUT I’m glad it’s in this set because I got to try it out.
Rouge Volupte Shine in #12 Corail Incandescent: This colour was kind of a bummer for me. I was expecting this shade to be a little bit more pigmented and it wasn’t. BUT, the formula on your lips is incredible. It keeps your lips soft and smooth.
The set as a whole: For the price, this set seems like a steal. You’re getting 4 full size lipsticks for the fraction of the price. The only downside is that it’s not as pigmented as the set makes it seem to be (or maybe I just had super high expectations).
Where To Buy?
Sephora, $112 (CDN).
Pros:
- Great formulas for ALL the lippies
- Cute packaging
- Smells great
- 4 different shades of coral
- 4 Lipsticks for the price of 2
Cons:
- They’re not super pigmented
- Price can be an issue
Overall Rating: 7.5/10 (It’s a good holiday product but I wish they were a little bit more pigmented!)
See you in the next post! 🙂
