Beauty Diaries: My Favourite MAC Products

 IMG_4724

So if you don’t know this already, now you will: I am a certified MAC cosmetics addict! This was one of the first beauty brands I had ever used, when I got into makeup and I’ve continued to use their products until now. Although, they have their hits and misses, there are a few staple products from this brand that I cannot live without. Here’s a list of the products that are absolute must-haves:

IMG_4723MAC Penultimate Eye Liner Rapidblack

This is one of the best liquid eye liners I have ever used! The colour is opaque and the best thing about this product is the fact that it’s simple and easy to use. It’s designed like a marker with a felt tip that’s super easy to control. It takes me less than 20 seconds to line my eyes with this liner and I use it everyday!

IMG_4720IMG_4721  MAC Studio Fix Foundation (NC43)

I know that a lot of people have a love/hate relationship with this product. I’ve had nothing but good experiences with this powder foundation. Since I have combination oily skin, this product keeps my shine at bay while giving me great coverage. This is one foundation I always end up using because it works great with my skin!

IMG_4715MAC Lipstick in Bombshell

This has to be one of the most unique pink coloured lipstick I have ever used or owned. It has a very nice gold sheen to it, which is what I think makes this product unique. The formula, as always, is great on my lips and I find that I reach for this particular lipstick whenever I am in doubt about what lip colour to use. I find it goes with any makeup look!

IMG_4713IMG_4714

MAC Mineralize SkinFinish Natural (Medium Deep)

If you must only purchase one product from MAC, then this has to be it! This is one of the best light coverage foundations I have ever used. I use this to set my liquid foundations as well as I wear this on top of BB creams. Since it’s light coverage, it’s not cakey and it sets everything perfectly. Plus, as the name says, it looks super natural and just blends with your skin!

IMG_4718MAC Eyeshadow in Shroom

I love this eyeshadow because it’s super versatile and the shade is absolutely gorgeous! The texture and formula of this shadow is awesome. You can use this as a highlight colour for your brow bones, cheek bones and your cupid’s arrow. As you can see, this is one of my most used eye shadows because it looks very natural on my skin and it looks pretty on my lids!

IMG_4705MAC Lipstick in Relentlessly Red

I bought this coraly pinky red matte lipstick colour on a whim and I’m so glad because I’m in love with this bold lip colour! The colour is pretty unique and it’s a matte lipstick, which is slowly becoming one of my favourite formulas I gravitate towards now. Everything about this lipstick is perfect, from the colour to the longevity on my lips!

IMG_4709MAC Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in High Energy

Wearing lip liners on its own is slowly starting to become one of my favourite things to do. This particular lip liner is one of the creamiest liners I have ever used. Since it’s matte and pro longwear, I was surprised to see that my lips didn’t dry out at all. I love the colour. It’s a beautiful orangey bright poppy red, which is a perfect colour for a bold lip look!

IMG_4716MAC Nail Polish in Spice

I have been obsessed with this nail polish for a while now. This has to be the perfect blush/nude coloured nail polish I have ever come across. It looks amazing with my skin tone and it literally goes with anything. The formula is creamy and opaque. You will most likely find this shade on my nails anytime you see me, since it’s my most used!

IMG_4710MAC Mineralize Concealer (NW 35)

I’ve tried my fair share of concealers and this has to be my favourite! I use it for my undereye circles, any discoloration and blemishes. The coverage of this formula is incredible and it’s not drying at all! I love the brush tip that comes with this liquid concealer but I use a concealer brush to blend out the formula. It’s not cakey and literally binds to your skin!

IMG_4719MAC Lip Liner in Spice

Best. Lip. Liner. Ever! Seriously, I cannot even stress how much I love this lip liner. I wear this alone, I pair it with other lipsticks and it looks great! Everything from the longevity of this product on your lips to the colour is perfect! If you are looking for the perfect nude lip liner, then this is definitely it!

IMG_4712MAC Lipstick in Ruby Woo

I’m pretty sure everyone knows of this cult favourite lipstick! Ruby Woo has to be one of the best red matte lipsticks out there. I find that this shade works with pretty much every skin tone and it looks amazing on everyone! The formula of this product isn’t drying and the colour is incredibly opaque, which is why this is one of my favourite red lippies!

IMG_4704MAC Lip Glass in Pink Lemonade

I’m not a huge lip gloss girl, although I used to wear them a lot when I was younger; but this particular lip gloss is one gloss I reach for because it looks so pretty on my lips! It’s a coraly orange colour with shimmer so it’s perfect to wear on its own or layer on top of other lipsticks (which looks pretty great). I find that this is one lipgloss I use the most from my stash.

IMG_4708MAC Powder Blush in Blunt

This product is a new edition to my makeup drawer and all I can say is that it is quickly becoming one of my most used products! This powder blush is mainly used as a contouring powder. The reason why I love this is because you can control the colour to contour your face really well. One swipe of this shade gives you a natural looking contour, but you can also build it up for special occasions!

Shopping Diaries: Target Haul

IMG_4303IMG_4304

If you live in Canada, then you are already aware of how Target has decided to close down all of its stores here (you can read about that here). This past Thursday, Target began their liquidation sale and of course I had to go in and see what it was all about! Was I impressed by the sales? Not completely. I mean everything was on sale (anywhere from 10%-30% off) but it wasn’t as impressive as they were projecting it to be. Don’t get me wrong, I still was able to score 30% off all my beauty items but I still do think Wal-Mart is always a better alternative. Which is probably why Target didn’t work out in Canada. In general, I do love the US version of Target because they offer brands which you cannot get anywhere else and their prices are pretty good. Personally, I think I got lucky with some of the products I was able to purchase given I went later in the evening to see what the stock was like. It was insane, I had to almost fight off, Confessions of a Shopaholic style, a woman to buy the last Sonia Kashuk eye shadow palette on the shelf. If you want to check it out yourself, I suggest you go ASAP before majority of the stock is done!

Review: The Body Shop’s Almond Hand & Nail Cream

IMG_1065

I’m a serious hand lotion junkie. If you were to go through my purse at any given moment, then you are bound to find at least 2 hand creams in there (so it’s pretty obvious that I’ve tried loads of them). This particular product I tried 5 years ago, which I bought on a whim because it was on sale, and I fell in love with it. This hand lotion goes everywhere with me. The Body Shop’s Almond Hand & Nail Cream is a hand cream that not only moisturizes your hands but your nails too (which is a huge plus point in my books). According to the creators, this formula contains two manicurist’s essentials: sweet almond oil and panthenol that leave your hands and nails completely moisturized.

Did it live up to its claims? One thousand percent! I really can’t imagine not having at least one tube of this hand cream with me all the time. I love it because the cream instantly absorbs into my hands and nails right away. It doesn’t leave a sticky or oily type feeling in my hands and my hands feel super moisturized. There’s a sweet almond oil scent to it, which isn’t a huge issue for me at all because the cream has positive effects for my hands and nails. It’s not super overpowering at all. At $20 (CDN), it is a bit pricey but you can find this product on sale almost all the time at the store (currently it’s $12 so go pick it up!). If you love hand lotions or are looking for a hand lotion that lives up to every single one of its claims, then this product is for you. Your hands will feel softer and smoother. Your nails will feel nourished and moisturized. What else can you ask for from a hand lotion? This is a product, which I’ve repurchased numerous times now so I highly recommend this! You can purchase this at any The Body Shop store or online!

Happy Shopping Dolls! x

Pros:

  • Moisturizes hands and nails
  • Leaves hands soft, non greasy or sticky
  • Cures brittle nails
  • Cute packaging

Cons:

  • Price
  • Smell (not a huge issue for me but could be a problem for some)

Rating: 9.5/10 (This is a great product that I cannot live without and carry with me at all times. My hands and nails have never felt better, so this is a highly recommended product!)

Review: Sephora’s Formula X Delete All 5-Finger Nail Polish Remover

IMG_1618

I’m back with a review on a nail care product. I’ve heard a lot about this particular product for a while now. There have been different brands that have come out with similar products, which I haven’t tried so this was my first hand experience with this type of nail polish remover. Formula X for Sephora’s “delete all 5-finger nail polish remover” is an innovative way to remove nail polish off your nails. It isn’t your typical polish remover, where you have to manually scrub off the polish from your nail beds. It’s a tub with a sponge, soaked with polish remover. There are 5 little holes in them, where you insert your fingers (obviously one hand at a time). Once you insert them in there, the magic sponge does its trick and removes polish as you pull your fingers out.  After reading claims and watching Sephora’s Youtube video, I was sold. I had to get this and try it for myself. So did it magically really remove all my nail polish within seconds (as it claims)? A big fat YES! I was actually amused when I pulled my hand out and all the polish had gone away. In fact, there wasn’t really any sort of residue left on my fingers are at all! There was one downside though, my nail beds became dry but I did follow through with washing my hand with a moisturizing hand wash and then applying some moisturizing hand/nail lotion (which improved that issue). I don’t know if it’s because I left my fingers in the soaked sponge too long or not (I left them in there for about 25 seconds and wiggled them out). Other than that, this nail polish remover is amazing! At $15 (USD), it is very expensive for a polish remover but it is pretty nifty and it’s perfect for someone who doesn’t want to spend a lot of time scrubbing their nails. If you want to save time, then this product is totally for you. Personally, I’m glad I bought this only because I switch nail polishes every week and sometimes it takes forever to remove certain polishes. This product removes everything from glitter to cream to pearls and it’s just a one-step process. You can purchase this at Sephora or online (it’s currently sold out online).

Happy Shopping Dolls! x

Pros:

  • Easy to use
  • Simple, fuss free polish remover
  • No liquid solution to worry about (spilling, etc.)
  • Removed nail polish super quickly and easily
  • Very cool take on the polish remover
  • Gives nails a clean slate in seconds
  • Removes creams, pearls and glitters
  • One-step process

Cons:

  • Did dry my nail beds out a lot
  • Price

Rating: 8.5/10 (I love this product for the simple fact that my nail polish was off within seconds and I didn’t have to spend time manually removing everything. I deducted points because my nail beds felt very dry right after I pulled it out of the sponge soak…but other than that this is a great product!)

M.A.C/Estee Lauder/Smashbox/Clinique Warehouse Haul

IMG_1242

So this past Sunday, I was lucky enough to score an invite to the M.A.C./ Estee Lauder/Smashbox/Clinique Warehouse sale and I figured I’d do a quick haul post on the items purchased. I’ve had the opportunity to go to a few of these in the past, along with the L’oreal warehouse sales as well. These are the types of sales I typically enjoy the most because you can really get some great deals from these brands. I tend to stock up on things I need along with trying some different products that I would never buy in full price. Beware though, the prices are so great that sometimes you end up putting a lot more in your cart than you really need (speaking from experience lol). These invite-only sales are always packed with people and takes place for 3 days. After going to a few of these in my life, I’ve figured out that the best day to go is the first day because you will most likely get a lot of the products in full stock whereas if you went on the last day. Although, there are still a few goodies left on the last day. These sales take place 1-4 times a year and if you are lucky enough to score an invite, makeup heaven awaits you! This time around I purchased products that I’ve always wanted to try but never really bought them at the store at full price. The prices of the products were generally great and a lot lower than retail prices, so I was extremely happy with that (who doesn’t love a good bargain?). Below you will find a list of things purchased. If you’d like to see reviews, swatches and thoughts on these products…comment below and let me know!
