Review: Laneige Water Sleeping Mask

DSC02718

Since we are transitioning between winter and spring (although, it feels more like winter here in Toronto), I figured I should share with you one of my favourite skin care products that I’m completely obsessed with. Before coming across Laneige’s Water Sleeping Mask, I honestly was having a little bit of an issue with my skin (I know such first world problems). I have combination oily skin, so I would notice that whenever the seasons would be transitioning, my skin would start acting wonkydonky (aka dry peeling patches). I never quite was able to find a long-term solution to it, until this product. Everything else I used would temporarily fix or rather moisturize my skin.

This is a gel based water sleeping mask that is meant to rejuvenate and hydrate your skin while you sleep (huzzah for this). Initially, I hadn’t tried a sleeping mask prior to this but I can safely say that I haven’t gone back since using this.

DSC04424

What I love about this product is how simple and easy it is to use. I slather this lightly on my face before bed (once a week) and I wake up with the softest skin I have ever had! It makes my skin extremely radiant and super moisturized. I found that ever since I incorporated this into my skin care routine, I’ve NEVER had those flaky skin issues between seasons changing. In fact, my skin’s elasticity has improved even more. This is perfect for all skin types and I love that this works while you sleep. It literally is every lazy girl’s (or boys) dream come true! It’s got a tiny bit of fragrance to it, but nothing that overpowers. The texture of the formula is AMAZING! Since it is a gel based mask, the formula is super light and doesn’t feel heavy when you apply it. In fact, it feels like you’re using a normal moisturizer. I also found that using this once a week made my skin a lot smoother in the long run. It never has irritated my skin nor has it caused any breakouts, which is a huge plus. I got mine at Sephora for $30 (CDN). Honestly, I hadn’t heard of this brand until I got a sample from Sephora and like I’ve already said, this really was a game changer for my skin in the long run. The size of the product is great because you really don’t need to use a lot of it. I definitely think this is worth every little bit, especially if you’re looking for a sleeping mask that give you results!

Pros:

  • Smells great
  • Moisturizes while you sleep
  • You wake up with glowy, radiant skin
  • Keeps skin super soft

Cons:

  • None

Review: The Body Shop Vitamin E Gentle Cleansing Facial Wipes

Hello Dolls! If you haven’t checked out my previous post, you can do so by clicking right here! I’m back again with a new review (and anotha 1)!

dsc02454

First Impressions, Product Feel & Thoughts

I had never heard of this product until I stepped foot inside The Body shop. In fact, I only picked this up because the whole store was buy 3 products for $33(CDN) and I needed a third product. The reason why I picked it up was because it smelled nice and I needed quick moisturizing cleansing wipes, which I can use on lazy days (which is often tbh). I gravitated towards this because it was pink, had Vitamin E and seemed pretty simple to use. So, when I got home…I used it immediately and I was extremely surprised. To me, this product was just a generic bunch of cleansing wipes I can use when I run out of my fav but AFTER I used it, I was shocked at how much I began to love it. It removed makeup flawlessly without irritating my skin and it left my skin super moisturized, which is perfect for the winter time. The formula in these wipes are meant to smooth out your skin and it def did do that at first use. It’s perfect for all skin types and it’s super gentle. According to the packaging, it’s supposed to cleanse, tone and moisturize all at one go. Although, I didn’t really see much of a “toning” effect. It did do everything else pretty well and I’m def going to repurchase this once I’m done. The packaging is your typical makeup towelette packaging and it’s pink (!!!).

Product Formula: 10/10

Packaging: 10/10

Product Result: 9/10

Price, Availability, Accessibility

As I mentioned, I got this part of a deal in-store 3 for $33 (CDN) but it retails for $16 for 25 towelettes. You can purchase this at The Body Shop!

Final Verdict

I will be the first one to admit, I underestimated this product immensely. I didn’t think it would be up to par with my Clinique wipes, but these are as good as them. I am definitely repurchasing this product not because it does the job well but because my skin felt so soft and smooth after that I didn’t even need to use a moisturizer (especially on those lazy nights you want to jump into bed).

Overall Rating: 9.5/10 (only because it claimed to tone your skin and I didn’t really see that but other than that this product is flawless)

See you in the next post!

Review: Origins Original Skin Retexturizing Rose Clay Mask

Hello Dolls! If you haven’t read my previous blog post, then you can do so right here! As always, follow me on all my socials by searching “Daff Diaries” or click the links on the right hand side of this blog page.

Okay, face masks were and still are the IT thing. Everywhere I went, everyone would be asking me about face masks or telling me about the face masks they’ve tried. Of course, in true Daff Diaries manner, I made a trip to my local Sephora to pick up a few to see what the rage was all about…and now I’ve got a review for you!

First Impressions

IMG_4616.JPG

When the worker at Sephora pointed me towards their face masks, I knew that there was one brand that I can always trust…and that’s Origins (remember how obsessed I was with THIS). Well, of course I had to go ahead and see what Origins had to offer. They had plenty but this was the one I gravitated towards the most. I have combination oily skin that’s also sensitive; so all I really wanted my face mask to do was not strip my face of moisture but still clean everything out. Also, I wanted that oh-so-glowy-face. This particular one made claims that it could do it all, including minimizing my pores (YES!). As I opened the bottle to smell it, I was mesmerized. It smells amazing. It’s got rose clay, which is great because clay is supposed to attract the dirt out of your skin. It’s also got Canadian Willow herb (which I’m assuming smells amazing because this product smells great) along with jojoba beads to exfoliate your skin (you can read more on their website). This product’s first impression for me was great and I couldn’t wait to go and try it!

Product Application & Result

I absolutely love the texture of this face mask. Even though it’s got jojoba beads to exfoliate, the formula/texture isn’t grainy at all. In fact, it’s smooth and very simple to apply on your face. I applied a thin layer and waited the 10 minutes the product recommends for it dry. It dried really fast and I could feel my face already tightening. Washing this product off was super easy. All you need is your fingers to gently massage the face mask off and warm water. Nothing else. So easy! The results were amazing. My first application of this product left me with super smooth, glowy and radiant skin! Although my pores didn’t minimize completely at first application, by the third application (I use this once a week), I could see my pores begin to vanish. I don’t think I’ve gotten this many compliments on my skin ever! Makeup application was easy (the next day) and my face looked healthier than ever!

Product Application Rating: 10/10

Price, availability and accessibility

As mentioned, I purchased mine at Sephora for $32 (CDN) and it’s worth EVERY single penny!!

Final Verdict

This is a perfect face mask for anyone looking to try a face mask! Every claim made by this product is true! Not only was I left with the best skin of my life, it didn’t seem to irritate my super sensitive combination oily skin (SCORE)!

Overall Rating: 10/10

See you in the next post!

7 Must-have Products For The Winter!

15046406_10154630468658503_1096371831_n

With winter on the horizon, I wanted to share with you my favourite products for the wintertime. The products mentioned here have helped me combat all sorts of hair and skin care issues one can face during the winter! As always, make sure to follow me on all my socials listed on the side bar. Don’t forget to read my previous blog post as well!

15057762_10154630468593503_608696730_n

  1. Tarte’s Tarteguard 30 Sunscreen Lotion: Just because it’s winter, it doesn’t mean you stop using your sunscreen! This has to be one of the most moisturizing sunscreens I have ever used (which is a HUGE plus during the dry winter months). I always tend to react horribly to sunscreen, but this is the ONLY one out there that has never broken me out!
  2. Bumble and Bumble’s Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil: My hair has never been happier! If you’re dealing with dry split ends or just overall dull hair during the winter months, this product is for you! One pump gives my hair moisture without making it oily and my hair feels healthy (even under the dreaded hat).
  3. La Neige’s Water Sleeping Mask: Having issues with your dry skin? Fear not, La Neige is here to save you while you sleep (literally). I kid you not, you wake up to the softest most healthiest skin ever. But, be sure to only use it once a week!
  4. Dior’s Crème De La Rose Lip balm: I don’t like the feeling of dry lips nor do I like reapplying my lip balm numerous times…this product combats them both with ease! You only need to reapply this twice (maybe) during the day and your lips feel super drenched with moisture!
  5. Clinique’s Moisture Surge Intense Thirst Relief  Lotion: I like to layer this either under my makeup or on top of my sunscreen. I can go on and on about why this is amazing for your face (you can read that here). But if you have combination oily skin, then THIS is for you.
  6. Bliss’ High Intensity Hand Cream: Dry and cracking hands are not my favourite part of winter (what a waste of a manicure). This product not only moisturizes your hands but it also smells great! It’s soothing and doesn’t leave your hands super oily.
  7. Johnson’s Baby Lotion: You know this product well. It’s been a staple for everyone at some point in their lives and honestly, this is pretty self-explanatory. You want skin as soft as babies? This is it. All year round.

It was the annual Spring VIB sale again and you know what that means in my world? I’m back with another Sephora Haul! (If you want to check out some of the previous Sephora hauls I blogged about, then type “sephora haul” in the search bar on my blog!)

Below you will find the list of things I bought & why I bought them. As always, follow me on everything and anything (look at the right side of this blog page? Please & thank you):

IMG_1704

  1. Origins Original Skin Retexturizing mask with Rose Clay: I’ve been on the hunt to try out new and different types of face masks. I figured that since a lot of people have said good things about this, I should give it a whirl!
  2. NARS Larger than life eye liner in Via Veneto: I’m a huge fan of the these liners. I tried a deluxe sample size of this black liner and fell in love so of course I had to purchase this (you know me and black eye liners…).
  3. Tarte’s Tarteguard 30 moisturizing sunscreen lotion: I repurchased this item because it really is one of the best facial sunscreens I have ever used and also because I scooped up every little bit from my previous bottle…
  4. NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint in Annapurna: I have never used a tinted moisturizer…can you believe that? So I decided to try this one out!
  5. Sephora Pro Flawless airbrush brush: A sephora makeup artist used this on me and I cannot explain to you how flawless my skin looked. I’m usually not a sucker for brushes because I rely on my Beauty Blender, but this brush was as good as that!
  6. Tarte’s Tartelette in Bloom Palette (I bought this before the sale but decided to add it in here): I loved the original palette and I figured I couldn’t go wrong with a part 2 of this line!

Shopping Diaries: Sephora Haul

IMG_4936

Sephora held its VIB Rouge Beauty Before Brunch event this past Sunday, where all VIB Rouge members and a guest got first access to 15% off your total purchase in-store, which was only open for VIB Rougers. If you want to know more about the Sephora Beauty Insider Program & how to score an invite to more sales like this, click here.

IMG_4932

My local Sephora did a phenomenal job hosting this event! Not only did they have Starbucks and cookies (Starbucks is like air to me); but they also had various reps present from all the brands they hold there to explain and recommend their products to you, on top of giving out an abundance of samples. And as if that wasn’t enough, they also had a very nice photo-op area set up as well as various How-to-workshops and you got to take home a makeup bag full of samples. My favourite part had to be the fact that the whole store/mall was only open for the VIB Rouge members (complete celeb status feeling).

IMG_4954IMG_4942

Since I was a girl on a mission, I went straight into doing some serious damage to my bank account. This time around, I took my mom as a guest and I think she probably had the time of her life stocking up on all her beauty items (being a beauty addict is a genetic thing). All in all, it was an awesome event and I can’t wait to go to the next one. Below is a list of items I purchased from two Sephora visits and why I purchased them as well as the samples and the makeup bag I got as a gift (one was from this event and another was a couple of weeks ago for my birthday).

IMG_4937IMG_4945

  1. Christian Dior’s Crème De Rose Lip Balm: This has been on my “must try” list for the longest time and I figured now that I’m almost done my stash of lip balms, I should pick this one up.
  2. First Aid Beauty’s Eye Duty Overnight Balm: This was recommended to me by one of the sales associates. She told me this was a new product that she tried and currently loved, so I figured why not give it a whirl!
  3. Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit- Medium to Tan: Initially, I wasn’t sold on this product. My friend tried to talk me into trying this out because she had heard great things about it. But after going in store and swatching it as well as trying it out, I was sold and had to pick it up!
  4. Marc Jacobs Marvelous Mousse Transformative Foundation in Fawn Deep: I read about this in Allure’s Best of Beauty article and it seemed every person that tried this product was raving about it. After trying this at the store, I fell in love and had to get it!
  5. Bite Beauty Butter Cream Lipstick in Rosewood: I’m a big fan of Bite’s lipsticks. When I heard about this new kind of lipstick they were putting out, I had to try it. The shade I picked up was the one that looked the nicest for a day-to-night look for my skin tone.
  6. NARS Birthday gift: Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Via Veneto, Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella, Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien (This is Sephora’s birthday gift for this year!)
  7. Bumble and Bumble’s BB. All Style Blow Dry: I needed a multipurpose heat protectant for my hair and because majority of B&B’s products have never disappointed me, I decided to pick this up and see if it really lives up to its hype.
  8. Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask: I’ve never really used a facemask and after talking to the Origins rep at the event, I was sold on this product. I tried it on my hand and I loved everything about it.
  9. Clinique’s Clarifying Lotion Number 3: This product was a repurchase. You can read my review about it here to find out why I can’t live without this!
  10. Buxom Waterproof Lash Mascara in Blackest Black: I had tried a sample version of this mascara and I absolutely fell in love with it (you can click here to find out why). I figured I’d pick up a waterproof version of this mascara for everyday wear.
  11. Christian Dior’s Diorshow Waterproof mascara in Catwalk Black: This is a product I repurchased (you can read why here). All I have to say is that this is the best mascara I have ever used in my life.
  12. Kat Von D’s Tattoo liner in Trooper: I tried a sample version of this product and I liked it. I know I swear by my MAC penultimate liquid liner but I figured I should branch out and give this one a whirl!
  13. Urban Decay’s Revolution Lipstick in Turn On: I love Urban Decay’s products and I have never tried any of their lip products, so I thought this is the perfect opportunity to pick up a nice shade for spring!
  14. NARS Audacious Lipstick in Audrey: I have been dying to try these lipsticks. I’ll be honest; I wasn’t sure what shade I wanted. When I saw that there was a shade called Audrey, I had to pick that one being an Audrey Hepburn fanatic and all.
  15. NARS Pure Matte Lipstick in Vesuvio: I bought this because my mom has been raving about it to me and because I’m starting to catch matte lipstick fever. This is a really pretty red!

 IMG_4980IMG_4983IMG_4984

Let me know if you want me to review any of these products! Happy Sephora shopping dolls! Don’t forget to follow me on Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, and Pinterest! x (Also, this sale is on till April 21st, so anyone that’s a VIB or a VIB Rouge…this is the time to stock up!)

Skin Care Diaries: The Clinique 3-step

IMG_4487

A few years ago, I was struggling to find the perfect skin care regiment. I had been switching back and forth between different skin care products without any sort of positive effect on my skin. It seemed like I had tried everything and anything yet I wasn’t completely happy with it. Products were either too greasy on my skin or not moisturizing enough, which resulted in dry flaky bits. So after a lot of research and countless googling, I decided to give the Clinique 3-step skin care regiment a try. I have been using this for the past few years and here are my thoughts about it!

What is it?

The Clinique 3-step skin care system is a skin care regiment that consists of cleansing, exfoliation and moisturizing. According to Clinique, these 3 basic steps work hand in hand together to help you achieve the best skin possible. So when I went to the Clinique counter, they asked me a series of questions to determine what type of skin I had. This is mainly because Clinique offers different products for different types of skin (types 1-4). After going through the questionnaire process, it was determined that I had combination oily skin. This meant that in Clinique’s dictionary of skin types, I was a number 3. I needed enough moisture in my skin without overdoing it. That is probably the reason why generic skin care products I was trying earlier weren’t really giving me any positive effects. You use the 3-step process once in the morning and once at night.

The 3-step process

Step 1: Cleansing

Since I have extremely sensitive skin, I decided to go with the milder version of the facial soap. Usually, with the type 3 skin type, they advise you to use the cleanser for oily skin but I opted for the milder version. Here’s my review on it. This is your basic cleansing step, where you use water and a cleanser to remove any dirt, oil, or makeup. This creates a clean surface for the next step!

IMG_3164

Step 2: Exfoliating

This step is where you use the toner to tone and remove any excess oil/imperfections from your skin as well as to prep your skin for the next step, so that your moisturizer seeps deep into your skin. Here’s my review on the Type 3 exfoliating toner. This particular toner has been created for combination oily skin types.

IMG_0990

Step 3: Moisturizer

This is a self-explanatory step. Since I have combination oily skin, I use the gel version of this moisturizer. This keeps my skin moisturized all day long without making it greasy. You can read my review here. This moisturizer is lightweight and perfect for using under makeup.

IMG_1778

My Verdict?

As I’ve said, I’ve used this for a couple of years now and I absolutely love it! This 3 step process changed my skin’s life for the better. My skin was softer, smoother, and just more alive after using this 3 step. I have tried other skin care products in between but nothing compares to this. If you haven’t tried this 3-step skin care regiment, I highly recommend you do so! Go into your Clinique counter and speak to the person there and they will walk you through it perfectly! I love that Clinique’s line offers products that are clinically tested, hypoallergenic and fragrance free! It’s also oil free which is a plus point for someone with my skin type. I barely get any dry or oily spots on my skin now, which I think is because I’ve been using this consistently for a while. Also, this regiment is perfect for using under any type of makeup. It’s the perfect skin care primer before makeup! If you’re out looking for a new skin care regiment, THIS IS IT!

Have A Great Day Dolls! x
