Favourite Spring Perfumes

IMG_0525

With April approaching and spring time just around the corner, why not change up your fragrance? I love buying different fragrances and find myself investing in new ones every time a season rolls around (which I should stop doing because it clearly affects the cashflow…). After going spicy and woodsy in the winter, I tend to go floraly and fresh in the spring. Here are my top 5 Spring Time Fragrance Picks (you can buy them any place that sells fragrances):

  1. Viktor Rolf Flower Bomb: This is one of my favourites. I sometimes sneak this fragrance during other seasons because it’s so beautiful. It’s flowery enough to be sweet. This is a very classy scent that will leave you and everyone around you happy!
  2. Dolce and Gabanna Light Blue: I cannot live without this fragrance during the spring and summertime. It’s citrusy, It’s fresh…It smells like you just stepped out of a D&G shower.  This is also very addictive for you and everyone around you ;).
  3. Marc Jacobs Daisy: The name and the bottle scream spring time! The best way to describe this fragrance is the cool wind that breezes through when you’re lying on the grass. I love this scent for Spring. It lingers on and it smells flowery without smelling flowery (like that makes any sense?).
  4. Victoria’s Secret Bombshell: This fragrance makes you feel like a bombshell! It’s light, fruity, flowery with a tiny hint of vanilla. I love this fragrance, especially for work, because it’s not overpowering. It’s enough to get you noticed without making the person beside you cough.
  5. Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche: This is a must have in any fragrance collection.  This is the perfect spring scent. Like it’s name…it’s fresh, flowery, and very chanel. I’ve had numerous people come upto me and ask me what I’m wearing and where they can buy it..whenever I have this on.

Remember: When testing fragrances, especially for spring, spray on skin (preferably your wrist) to see if the fragrance suits you. In order to have your own signature spring fragrance, you have to be comfy with it…which means don’t buy it unless you LOVE it!

Five Fragrances I’m Obsessing Over

15556397_10154728445188503_317942450_o

Hi Dolls! If you haven’t checked out my last post, then please do! You do that by clicking here. Also, make sure to follow me on all my socials, listed on the right hand of this page.

There’s nothing more I love than trying out new fragrances! Although, I have my favourites, which I swear by, I still like trying out new ones. I find that fragrances can trigger a memory associated with that smell (I hope that makes sense because that’s me trying to be extra philosophical). Here are five fragrances I’m obsessing over:

  1. Victoria’s Secret Bombshell: Oh my goodness. This is one of the prettiest and lightest smelling perfume I’ve ever used. It’s perfect for a work day and it’s also perfect for a night out. You really can’t go wrong with this one! It’s girly, fresh and flowery without smelling like a flower shop (lolz).
  2. Salvatore Ferragamo’s Signorina Misteriosa: With one spritz you get mystery, intrigue and yummy (I can’t believe I just said wrote that). Seriously, this smells amazing. It’s probably a little too strong for a work day but it’s perfect for a night out! It’s seductive, woodsy and fun! Also, I love the name and bottle of this fragrance.
  3. Miss Dior Eau De Toilette: This perfume reminds me of a perfect day you spend outside with a flower crown on (I know so darn specific). But honestly, this has to be the most feminine fragrances I own. It’s perfect for a night out or a weekend out and it smells like pretty heaven (or so I would assume).
  4. Clinique Happy: Cue Pharell’s song…because I’m happpppyyyy. Literally, this fragrance makes you instantly happy. It’s citrusy, it’s fresh and it’s not overpowering (which is perfect for work). I love using this on gloomy winter days because it reminds me of sunny summer days (go figure!).
  5. Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb: Clearly, they named this fragrance well. It smells like a spring flower bouquet and I love every little bit of it. It’s not overpowering. It’s super sweet and girly yet sophisticated. I love wearing this one for special occasions (or simple ones I want to make special). Also, how cute is the bottle?!

See you in the next post!

kisses,

Beauty Diaries: My Favourite MAC Products

 IMG_4724

So if you don’t know this already, now you will: I am a certified MAC cosmetics addict! This was one of the first beauty brands I had ever used, when I got into makeup and I’ve continued to use their products until now. Although, they have their hits and misses, there are a few staple products from this brand that I cannot live without. Here’s a list of the products that are absolute must-haves:

IMG_4723MAC Penultimate Eye Liner Rapidblack

This is one of the best liquid eye liners I have ever used! The colour is opaque and the best thing about this product is the fact that it’s simple and easy to use. It’s designed like a marker with a felt tip that’s super easy to control. It takes me less than 20 seconds to line my eyes with this liner and I use it everyday!

IMG_4720IMG_4721  MAC Studio Fix Foundation (NC43)

I know that a lot of people have a love/hate relationship with this product. I’ve had nothing but good experiences with this powder foundation. Since I have combination oily skin, this product keeps my shine at bay while giving me great coverage. This is one foundation I always end up using because it works great with my skin!

IMG_4715MAC Lipstick in Bombshell

This has to be one of the most unique pink coloured lipstick I have ever used or owned. It has a very nice gold sheen to it, which is what I think makes this product unique. The formula, as always, is great on my lips and I find that I reach for this particular lipstick whenever I am in doubt about what lip colour to use. I find it goes with any makeup look!

IMG_4713IMG_4714

MAC Mineralize SkinFinish Natural (Medium Deep)

If you must only purchase one product from MAC, then this has to be it! This is one of the best light coverage foundations I have ever used. I use this to set my liquid foundations as well as I wear this on top of BB creams. Since it’s light coverage, it’s not cakey and it sets everything perfectly. Plus, as the name says, it looks super natural and just blends with your skin!

IMG_4718MAC Eyeshadow in Shroom

I love this eyeshadow because it’s super versatile and the shade is absolutely gorgeous! The texture and formula of this shadow is awesome. You can use this as a highlight colour for your brow bones, cheek bones and your cupid’s arrow. As you can see, this is one of my most used eye shadows because it looks very natural on my skin and it looks pretty on my lids!

IMG_4705MAC Lipstick in Relentlessly Red

I bought this coraly pinky red matte lipstick colour on a whim and I’m so glad because I’m in love with this bold lip colour! The colour is pretty unique and it’s a matte lipstick, which is slowly becoming one of my favourite formulas I gravitate towards now. Everything about this lipstick is perfect, from the colour to the longevity on my lips!

IMG_4709MAC Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in High Energy

Wearing lip liners on its own is slowly starting to become one of my favourite things to do. This particular lip liner is one of the creamiest liners I have ever used. Since it’s matte and pro longwear, I was surprised to see that my lips didn’t dry out at all. I love the colour. It’s a beautiful orangey bright poppy red, which is a perfect colour for a bold lip look!

IMG_4716MAC Nail Polish in Spice

I have been obsessed with this nail polish for a while now. This has to be the perfect blush/nude coloured nail polish I have ever come across. It looks amazing with my skin tone and it literally goes with anything. The formula is creamy and opaque. You will most likely find this shade on my nails anytime you see me, since it’s my most used!

IMG_4710MAC Mineralize Concealer (NW 35)

I’ve tried my fair share of concealers and this has to be my favourite! I use it for my undereye circles, any discoloration and blemishes. The coverage of this formula is incredible and it’s not drying at all! I love the brush tip that comes with this liquid concealer but I use a concealer brush to blend out the formula. It’s not cakey and literally binds to your skin!

IMG_4719MAC Lip Liner in Spice

Best. Lip. Liner. Ever! Seriously, I cannot even stress how much I love this lip liner. I wear this alone, I pair it with other lipsticks and it looks great! Everything from the longevity of this product on your lips to the colour is perfect! If you are looking for the perfect nude lip liner, then this is definitely it!

IMG_4712MAC Lipstick in Ruby Woo

I’m pretty sure everyone knows of this cult favourite lipstick! Ruby Woo has to be one of the best red matte lipsticks out there. I find that this shade works with pretty much every skin tone and it looks amazing on everyone! The formula of this product isn’t drying and the colour is incredibly opaque, which is why this is one of my favourite red lippies!

IMG_4704MAC Lip Glass in Pink Lemonade

I’m not a huge lip gloss girl, although I used to wear them a lot when I was younger; but this particular lip gloss is one gloss I reach for because it looks so pretty on my lips! It’s a coraly orange colour with shimmer so it’s perfect to wear on its own or layer on top of other lipsticks (which looks pretty great). I find that this is one lipgloss I use the most from my stash.

IMG_4708MAC Powder Blush in Blunt

This product is a new edition to my makeup drawer and all I can say is that it is quickly becoming one of my most used products! This powder blush is mainly used as a contouring powder. The reason why I love this is because you can control the colour to contour your face really well. One swipe of this shade gives you a natural looking contour, but you can also build it up for special occasions!

Review: Tarte’s Tartelette Palette

IMG_3771

Often, it’s a rarity to see an eyeshadow palette devoted to just matte eyeshadow colours. Many makeup brands have tried to incorporate matte eyeshadows. Some have accomplished it greatly and some haven’t but there hasn’t been one exclusive palette that offers only matte shadows…until now. Tarte’s Tartelette Palette is the first of its kind and has been put out on the market due to popular demand. When I first saw this product on Sephora’s website, I was floored. A palette that features 12 exclusive matte eyeshadows that have been designed to work with one another? Sign me up because it was just too good to be true. In fact, I was so excited that I ended up purchasing this without reading any reviews or swatching the product. The Tartelette palette’s shadows are made with Amazonian Clay (just like most of Tarte’s products). This versatile palette is formulated without mineral oil, sodium and gluten. It’s dermatologist tested and very beneficial for your eye area! The packaging of this product is sleek and it comes with a pretty big mirror on one side. It also includes a How-to-guide on getting some day and night looks. These long-wear eyeshadows can be used as a liner, lid shadow and/or crease shadow, the possibilities are endless!

My Verdict?

IMG_3800 IMG_3801

Okay are you ready for what I have to say? This product is so incredibly amazing that I have dubbed it as the best eyeshadow palette I have ever used to this date. I’ve been using this palette for weeks now and I cannot explain to you how impressed I am by each and every single eyeshadow in this palette. There isn’t a single colour that I don’t like or don’t use! First of all, the quality of these eyeshadows are amazing! They’re buttery soft to touch and they perfectly glide on your lids without making any sort of mess or being streaky. The formula is incredible. Most of the time, matte eyeshadows tend to become either powdery or dry but this isn’t the case with any of these shadows. There’s no fall out, especially if you use it with an eyeshadow primer. The texture of the shadows are smooth and the formula does not irritate my eyes nor does it make the eye area dry! Secondly, each of the 12 shadows in this palette are so incredibly pigmented that you get enough colour with one swipe! Of course, you can build the colour up to your desired intensity but you don’t really have to pack on the layers as much. Third of all, the versatility of this palette is astonishing! Each and every colour here can work harmoniously with one another or can stand alone on its own. I’ve used some of the colours as liners and they worked great! You can pair them any way you want and it’ll work, so the possibilities of your eye look are endless! Also, did I mention all the colours are MATTE? The colours are so incredibly matte that they look phenomenal when they’re on your lids! Last of all, the packaging of the product is so adorable. It’s sleek, cute and small enough to fit in your makeup bag. I love that it has a big mirror as well. Also, the names for the shadows are so cute and empowering. This palette was created to celebrate, inspire and empower women and the names of the shadows really showcase that! All in all, this product is a must have for any eyeshadow lover, anyone looking for a new eyeshadow palette or anyone that loves matte eyeshadows! At $53 (CDN), you will not be disappointed! This is worth every little bit of your money and think of it as a long-term investment. I absolutely love this palette and have been using this obsessively the past few weeks! Tarte has hit the mark with this impressive product! You can purchase this at any Tarte retailer (I got mine at Sephora)!

Review: MAC Lipstick in Bombshell

Everyone knows that MAC is one of the leading brands in the lipstick market. Almost everyone has either used or owned at least one MAC lippie. I cannot leave a MAC store without purchasing at least one lip product (which is terrible on my bank account). This particular purchase was an impulse buy and I’m so very glad I have added this to my lipstick collection. MAC’s lipstick in ‘Bombshell’ is described as a bright rosy pink with shimmer. When swatched on to my lips and skin, it’s a bright pink with a gold sheen. It’s a frost finish, which means that you will get excellent colour payoff and it will almost be a sheeny finish. This particular pink isn’t super frosted, despite being a frosted finish, which to me is a plus for this particular shade. I think the name is perfect for this colour because you truly do feel like a bombshell when you have this on (okay, it was supposed to sound funny…). I absolutely love this lipstick because it’s very pigmented, it isn’t super shimmery (despite it being a frost finish), and it’s not drying at all. The only minor issue I had is that I felt I had to reapply it a bit more than some of my other MAC lipsticks (which isn’t a huge issue for me, but I can see it being an issue for others). At $16 (USD), this is a fantastic add to any lipstick junkie’s drawer. Personally, I love this shade and I find myself using this more often than I really should. The pink isn’t like a hot pink but a noticeable pink and I think this will be nice on almost any skin tone! My only advice is to use this with a lip liner, that way the colour will last a lot longer on your lips. You can purchase this online or at any MAC stores/counters.

Happy Shopping Dolls! x

Pros:

  • Very Pigmented colour
  • Even though it claims to be a shimmer, not glittery or shimmery but rather sheeny
  • Vanilla scent that isn’t too overpowering
  • Creamy, doesn’t dry out lips at all

Cons:

  • Doesn’t last as long on the lips, you will have to reapply (but not a huge issue for me, if I use a lip liner)

Rating: 8.5/10 (This is a pretty good lipstick by MAC, it’s creamy and not drying, which is perfect for my lips. The colour is gorgeous! If you want to try a gold based pink this is a definite must have!)
