Favourite Spring Perfumes

IMG_0525

With April approaching and spring time just around the corner, why not change up your fragrance? I love buying different fragrances and find myself investing in new ones every time a season rolls around (which I should stop doing because it clearly affects the cashflow…). After going spicy and woodsy in the winter, I tend to go floraly and fresh in the spring. Here are my top 5 Spring Time Fragrance Picks (you can buy them any place that sells fragrances):

  1. Viktor Rolf Flower Bomb: This is one of my favourites. I sometimes sneak this fragrance during other seasons because it’s so beautiful. It’s flowery enough to be sweet. This is a very classy scent that will leave you and everyone around you happy!
  2. Dolce and Gabanna Light Blue: I cannot live without this fragrance during the spring and summertime. It’s citrusy, It’s fresh…It smells like you just stepped out of a D&G shower.  This is also very addictive for you and everyone around you ;).
  3. Marc Jacobs Daisy: The name and the bottle scream spring time! The best way to describe this fragrance is the cool wind that breezes through when you’re lying on the grass. I love this scent for Spring. It lingers on and it smells flowery without smelling flowery (like that makes any sense?).
  4. Victoria’s Secret Bombshell: This fragrance makes you feel like a bombshell! It’s light, fruity, flowery with a tiny hint of vanilla. I love this fragrance, especially for work, because it’s not overpowering. It’s enough to get you noticed without making the person beside you cough.
  5. Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche: This is a must have in any fragrance collection.  This is the perfect spring scent. Like it’s name…it’s fresh, flowery, and very chanel. I’ve had numerous people come upto me and ask me what I’m wearing and where they can buy it..whenever I have this on.

Remember: When testing fragrances, especially for spring, spray on skin (preferably your wrist) to see if the fragrance suits you. In order to have your own signature spring fragrance, you have to be comfy with it…which means don’t buy it unless you LOVE it!

Fashion Diaries: Best Dressed Celebrities at the Met Gala 2015

This is prom night for celebrities and it is the most awaited day in  every fashionista’s life. The infamous Met Gala is an annual fundraising gala, which raises money for the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Arts. Every year there is a theme that coincides with the featured exhibit at the museum. This year the theme was China: Through the Looking Glass. This year’s gala chairs were the editor-in-chief of Vogue, Anna Wintour, Jennifer Lawrence, Gong Li, Marissa Mayer, and Wendi Murdoch. They were responsible for the benefit committee and the guest list (this is like the ultimate A list party you want to be invited to). Did you know that Anna Wintour personally approves every attendee’s outfit? Everyone tries to bring their A game to this party. Some do a great job, others fumble but below you will find my favourite looks from the Met Gala this year (in no particular order of course)!

CEMkV8PVEAAURUq.png-largeJoshua Jackson in Alexander McQueen & Diane Kruger in Chanel

These two always look the cutest at any event they attend together. As always, Josh looked handsome, as always. I love that he went with a navy blue and black combination tux. Plus, he has such a cute bow tie on! Diane looked pretty in her ensemble. I love that red was her accent colour and the flowers in her hair compliments her flower printed trousers. Both of them looked adorable on the carpet.

slide_423096_5432108_freeReese Witherspoon in Jason Wu

Reese looks incredibly elegant in this red strapless fitted gown. I love that she kept her ensemble in one colour, which made her gorgeous Tiffany & co. jewels stand out even more. The slit on this dress is done in a classy manner. Her shoes are gorgeous as well. Despite it being simple, Reese kept it super classy!

CEMmqb8UUAAWzc7Gabrielle Union in Zac Posen

I love what Gabrielle wore. The deep berry purple long-sleeved gown looks amazing on her. The detailed work on the top half of the dress elevates this simple gown’s look. I love how she accessorized this whole ensemble. The purse, the rings, the hair and makeup were completely on point. Gabrielle looked great!

enhanced-21605-1430792929-13Candice Swanepoel in Michael Kors

This has to be one of my favourite Michael Kors dresses ever. Candice looked astonishing in this whole ensemble. The nude lace body hugging dress is beautiful. I love the embellished cuff! Everything from the accessories to the hair and makeup are pure perfection. Nothing is overdone and everything looks polished.

enhanced-14808-1430794166-1 Dianna Agron in Tory Burch

Dianna looked gorgeous in this flowy one shouldered gown. I love the angular bird print at the bottom of her dress. The colour of the dress is also very pretty. This elegant ensemble is accessorized really well. Her emerald cocktail ring is gorgeous. I love that her hair and makeup give off a soft finish to this pretty look.

rs_634x1024-150504190557-634.Beyonce-jay-Z-Met-Gala.jl.050415Beyonce in Givenchy

Can Queen B ever do wrong? Seriously, she was the last to arrive at the gala and she definitely made a statement with her barely there dress. Since, you can get away with pretty much anything at this particular event, Beyonce hits the mark with this whole ensemble. The embellishments are gorgeous and strategically put in the right places on this gown. The best part about this outfit has to be her sky-high ponytail. She looked incredible!

CEM_DzlWYAADynF enhanced-20557-1430790979-22 CEM8xYaWIAA_pSD Rihanna in Guo Pei

Rihanna slayed the red carpet. This golden-yellow coat-dress was the talk of the Met gala. Everything from her head-piece to the length of the train is perfect. The detailed work on this coat is amazing and exquisitely executed. Actually, I cannot find anything wrong with this whole ensemble and for me, this was the best thing to grace the red carpet.

CENBxfTW8AE53X7 enhanced-16772-1430791517-11Zendaya in Fausto Puglisi

Zendaya is going to be the next fashionista on the block. This young starlet has been killing it at every red carpet appearance lately and this is nothing short of amazing. The red, black, gold and white combination of this costume gown is stunning! Everything is perfect about this look, from the hair to shoes (& that marvellous head-piece).

rs_634x1024-150504165002-634.claire-danes-jenner-met-gala-2015Claire Danes in Valentino

Claire looks grungy chic in this hunter green dress. The wide black belt detailing and the semi sheerness of this gown is gorgeous. I love that she went for this edgy look. The side swept hair and the dark lips are very in. The minimal accessories are also on point and Claire looks super rocker chic while looking elegant! Valentino did a great job with this dress.

enhanced-7752-1430791535-21Robert Pattinson in Dior Homme

How handsome does Robert look? Seriously, this old school Dior classic black and white tux looked great on him. The best part about this outfit has to be the offset untied bow tie. It’s artistic, it’s stylish and it’s very Met Gala. The swishy hair and smolder is very effortless chic!

enhanced-20003-1430791146-8 Kate Mara in Diane Von Furstenberg

Kate Mara killed it on the red carpet in this elegant yet artistic ensemble. This white DVF gown with a Chinese collar, deep V cut and high slit looked unbelievably stylish. The black cherry blossom print is very pretty. I love that Kate went with a slicked back hair look and super minimal makeup, making this gorgeous dress the focal point of the ensemble!

enhanced-19726-1430790979-25 Miguel in Michael Kors

Miguel looked handsome and very dapper in this siren red and black suit. MK did a great job with this ensemble. I love that Miguel took a risk wearing such a bold colour on the red carpet, which paid off. The colour blocking between red and black was beautiful. The gelled hair and smolder finish up this look.

rs_634x1024-150504170410-634.kate-hudson-met-gala-2015Kate Hudson in Michael Kors

Let’s just say the Met gala belonged to Michael Kors. Almost every celebrity he dressed looked amazing (& also made this list). Kate looked amazing in this gold sequins embellished column gown. This fit her like a glove and the high neck looked great. I love her hair and makeup with this ensemble, which she kept simple yet stylish! Also, how pretty is the head piece?

enhanced-29718-1430791497-10Eddie Redmayne & Hannah Bagshawe in Valentino

How adorable do these two look in their matching Valentino outfits? Hannah Bagshawe is definitely a fashionista in the making. This whole year she has brought the it factor to every red carpet and event, including this one. This black and white gown with cutouts on the side looked amazing on her. I love the single printed flower in the middle, it really brings the whole dress together. Eddie, on the other hand, looked handsome as always and we all know I love anyone in a bow tie! He kept it classic and looked stylish!

Review: Chanel’s Rouge Coco Hydrating Lip Colour in Paradis

IMG_3402IMG_3404

Chanel’s beauty products are a huge weakness point for me. I often find myself purchasing beauty products from this luxurious brand, even if I don’t need them (the life of a makeup addict). This well-known brand has been around for decades and with each product they release, the quality only gets better. With that being said, I was introduced to Chanel’s Rouge Coco Hydrating Lip colour when I was browsing through People’s Stylewatch magazine. It had Vanessa Paradis as its brand ambassador and the lip colour she had on was gorgeous, so I had to go in and swatch it for myself. The shade is called Paradis (which I believe is an ode to Vanessa). The shade is described as a pink coral and the finish is semi-opaque, almost like a frost with shimmer and sheen. According to Chanel, these lippies were created to pay an homage to the luxurious lifestyle of Coco Chanel. It’s a lightweight lip colour meant to hydrate, soften, soothe and condition your lips. Also, its formula has been created in a way that it boosts your lip’s ability to hold in moisture for a plumper, smoother and healthier looking appearance.

 My Verdict?

IMG_3406

This is my most used, most loved, and most cherished lipstick in my makeup drawer. Firstly, the colour is incredible for my skin tone. Even though it’s a pink coral, the colour is not too bright for me. It’s semi-opaque, that is probably the reason why this colour works on my skin tone. It’s got a little bit of shimmer and sheen but nothing too overbearing. If you see the swatches, the pigmentation is pretty decent. I find that I do have to swipe it across my lips twice to get the right amount of colour on there but either way it’s a beautiful colour. Secondly, the formula is incredible! The lipstick glides on like butter on toast for the easiest application ever. The claims are true. You get extremely moisturized lips and over the course of time you do feel like your lips’ condition is improving. Thirdly, it’s very lightweight and smells like Chanel. My lips didn’t feel heavy at all and it layers perfectly with a lip liner. Lastly, the longevity is something I wish that was a little bit better. It isn’t enough for me, personally, to write off this product. I don’t mind reapplying lipstick throughout the day/event. This product’s longevity was okay, you do have to reapply after a few hours, even if you have a lip liner on. Also, this is a luxurious brand, which means that the price is quite high for a lipstick ($39 CDN). All in all, I love this product. I haven’t found a colour like this in a long time. Also, the incredible formula is enough for me to keep repurchasing it! Buy this if you are on the look out for a nice pink coral hydrating lip colour! Think of it as an investment. You can purchase this at any Chanel counters or online (I purchased mine from the Hudson’s Bay).

Pros:

  • Great colour, shimmery/sheeny but not overbearing, semi opaque
  • Hydrates lips, keeps them smooth, soft and conditions them
  • Lightweight, smells like Chanel

Cons:

  • Price
  • Longevity (I had to re-apply a few times)

Rating: 8/10 (This is one of my favourite lipsticks because of the colour. Purchase this if you want a pretty pink coral lippie and for its hydrating benefits)

Fashion Diaries: My Holiday Lunch Party Ensemble

Recently, I had to attend a Holiday lunch party and decided to do a little blog post on my ensemble. I had a blast putting this whole look together and had a lovely Holiday lunch party with my coworkers.

Outfit

IMG_3428

I wanted to channel my inner Audrey Hepburn (she is one of my style idols), so I decided to go for an all black outfit. This way my accessories, hair, and makeup would be the focal point of the ensemble. I wore a black long-sleeved elastic waist dress from Forever 21 (this is one of my favourite dresses to wear because you can dress it up or dress it down depending on your accessories and makeup). I paired the dress with black leggings since I wanted to go for a neutral classy look.

Accessories

IMG_3431IMG_3579

I wanted to incorporate the colour green into my ensemble and figured the best way to do that would be through my accessories. Since gold was my main accent colour, I decided to go with a gold and emerald statement necklace (which I got from Ardene). I went with two rings, a dainty rose gold bow ring from Kate Spade (well because everyone knows my obsession with bows) and an emerald cocktail ring, which matched perfectly with my necklace. I added a woven brown belt to match my shoes and to accentuate the waistline.

Shoes/Purse

IMG_3430IMG_3520

Since I wore leggings, I opted for mid-calf brown slouchy boots, which I got years ago from Costa Blanca. They were comfy and perfect for my ensemble! Since it was a Holiday party, I wanted to also incorporate the colour red somehow (which I did through my lips as well). So I decided to go with a red Michael Kors quilted/studded crossbody purse (which my mom was generous enough to let me borrow for the day). As I mentioned that gold was one of my main accent colours, so the gold detailing on this purse was a perfect match for my other accessories.

Hair

IMG_0441

I went with one of my favourite go-to hairstyles at the moment, curls! Here’s a tutorial I did earlier on how you can get the perfect curls using a wand.

Makeup

IMG_3432

I went with a bold red lip so that meant keeping all other parts of my face neutral so that everything was balanced out. Below you will find a list of products I used to achieve the look I wanted and I’ve also shown you how to get the subtle smoky eye look I did!

IMG_3577

The Subtle Smokey Eye look using Urban Decay’s Naked Palette

1) Apply an eyeshadow primer all over your lids (I went with Urban Decay’s Primer Potion).

2) Apply a base colour all over the lids (I went with Tarte’s Smoldereyes in Champagne).

IMG_3574IMG_3524

3) Take the shade Buck and with a crease brush apply to the outer corners and blend it into your crease.

IMG_3572IMG_3529

4) Take the shade Toasted with a flat shadow brush and apply all over the lids.

IMG_3571IMG_3531

5) Take the same crease brush you used earlier and dip into Hustle and Darckhorse; and apply only to the outer corners of your eyes, smoking it in circular motions into your crease.

IMG_3544

6) Take the shade Darkhorse with a liner brush and line your lower lash line as well as your upper lash line.

IMG_3546

7) Take your favourite black eyeliner (I used Urban Decay’s Zero) and apply to your waterline as well as line your upper lash line (from mid-lid to the outer corner).

IMG_3559

8) Take a liner brush and soften the line by tracing the line you just created.

IMG_3552

9) Take the shade Virgin and Naked and apply to the brow bone.

IMG_3573

10) With a clean crease brush, soften any harsh lines.

IMG_3566

11) I wanted to define my eyes a little bit more so I took a gel liner (Marc Jacobs Liner in Blacquer) and decided to do a mini winged line.

IMG_3562IMG_3567

12) I finished the look with two coats of Maybelline’s Big Eyes Mascara!

And this was my whole ensemble at a recent Holiday lunch! Hope you are having a wonderful Holiday season and find some inspiration from my look for any of your upcoming parties! Make sure to follow me on Twitter, Pinterest and Tumblr for all the latest updates on this blog!

Happy Weekend Dolls! x

Review: Chanel’s Rouge Coco Shine in Boy (#54)

IMG_2598 IMG_2602

Yes, it is true. Chanel lipsticks (no matter what type) are my biggest makeup weakness. These luxurious and brilliant lippies are one of my favourites because of its marvellous quality. Chanel, as a brand, always exceeds my expectations and nothing truly compares to a classic Chanel lipstick. So when I heard that Chanel was coming out with a lip balm inspired lipstick, I was excited. I find these types of lippies are perfect for trying bold colours and for everyday wear.

Chanel’s Rouge Coco Shine lipsticks are a what I like to call a lipstick which feels like a tinted lip balm. The pigmentation of these products are anywhere from semi-sheer to sheer. This product is meant to drench your lips with moisture while providing you a semi sheer colour. The shade “Boy” (interesting name) is a light pale pink in colour. I found that this colour is the same shade as my lips but only better, which is perfect for wearing everyday and for nights out (the perfect nude for my lips).

My verdict? I like this lipstick because of its formula, colour and how it makes my lips feel. This lipstick drenches your lips with moisture. I didn’t need to apply a lip balm as a base at all. My lips in the long run felt a lot more softer. The colour is fantastic. Since it’s semi sheer, the colour isn’t opaque but it’s perfect enough to wear daily. The formula is fantastic. It feels buttery smooth, it smells like Chanel and it’s very satiny on my lips. It’s very lightweight and feels like you are wearing nothing on your lips. The finish of this product is shiny like a lip gloss.

The downsides? At a whopping $39 (CDN), the price is definitely hefty which can be a downside to most. The other downside is longevity of the lipstick. I found that I had to re-apply a lot more often than I really wanted. But those two downsides were a minor thing for me. I still adore this lipstick and can’t imagine my makeup drawer without it! This is a must have for any lipstick junkie or Chanel lover! You can purchase this at any Chanel counter or online!

Happy Shopping Dolls! x

Pros:

  • Smells like Chanel
  • Keeps lips super hydrated, made lips feel softer
  • Lightweight formula, doesn’t feel like you have anything on
  • Buttery smooth texture
  • Semi sheer in colour, perfect for daily wear

Cons:

  • Price
  • Had to reapply quite often

Rating: 8.5/10 (This is a great lipstick if you love Chanel lip products. The price and the lack of longevity is the reason behind the deduction)
