Review: Esqido Gel Eyeliner in Black & Brown

fullsizeoutput_1217

When Esqido sent me these babies to try out, I was so excited! If you have been long time readers of this blog, then you already know how obsessed I am with eyeliners! Seriously. I cannot go anywhere without some sort of eyeliner on my lids or waterline!

fullsizeoutput_1218

What is it: These eyeliners are gel eyeliners that come in two shades: Black and Brown. It is pigmented, silky smooth and comes in the form of a retractable and sharpenable pen! One of my favourite things about these liners are the fact they come with an air-tight silicon ring closure around the top of the pencil. This helps the liner not dry out and last long! The pencils also come with a built-in sharpener attached at the bottom of the pencil! You can buy these online on Esqido’s website for $16 a pop (be sure to visit their website soon because they’re having a promo for these liners where you can get them both for the price of one!).

IMG_1679

The Pros: Let’s talk about how gel liners are literally the best thing ever created on this planet. Gel liners are perfect for everyday use because they glide on smooth and are extremely easy to use. Although, the down side to gel liners are that they tend to dry out a lot sooner than most eyeliners. This is NOT the case with Esqido’s liners. I have never been SO impressed with a gel liner! Even though these were sent to me, I can definitely tell you that I will hundred percent purchase these once I’m done using the two colours. The formula of these are incredible! It’s smooth, soft and super pigmented! One of the main reasons why I love these so much is because they lasted all day and all night on my eyes without smudging at all! I used them on my waterline and it stayed put! One swipe is all you need for these because they are incredibly pigmented. Also, I love that it’s retractable, making it easy to use when you’re traveling! If you want a precise tip all the time, you can use the sharpener attached at the bottom of the pencil (it’s SOO easy to use). These also pair well with ANY make up looks and false lashes! Another thing I loved about this was that it blended super well when I was doing a smoky eye look. This didn’t irritate my eyes nor did it dry out! Seriously, if you’re in the market to try a good gel liner this is it! They’re also matte. It definitely was waterproof because I wore these to a wedding last weekend and it did NOT smudge through the tears.

The Cons: GIVE ME MORE COLOURS! Currently, it is only available in Brown and Black but I can’t wait for bold colours, Esqido make this happen!!

Overall Rating: 10/10

What’s In My Makeup Bag: Travel Edition

Hi Dolls! Hope you’re doing well! If you haven’t checked out my last blog post, you can do so right here! As always, make sure you follow me on all my social media accounts listed on the right hand side of this page as well as the bottom of this post.

14883543_10154568213728503_6989451980859449401_o.jpg

If you remember (this one goes out to the extremely loyal readers), I had previously posted a “what’s in my makeup bag” blog post a couple years ago. That was then and this is what I carry now when I travel (no matter the duration of time). Not only will I list the products here but I’ve also created a quick video (for all my fellow lazy-ers, who would rather see what I carry than read about it…I mean you can do both).

  1. MAC’s Mineralize Skinfinish in Medium Deep: This product is a multipurpose product for me. I use it as a setting powder. I use this product over a foundation primer. I sometimes use this as an eye shadow base (if I don’t want to wear an eye shadow).
  2. Make Up For Ever’s Full Cover Waterproof Concealer in 10: I haven’t come across a better concealer just yet! You can wear this on its on or on top of your foundation. You don’t need a lot of product and it blends into your skin extremely well!
  3. MAC Cosmetics’ Lip Pencil in Whirl: This is perfect for traveling because I can wear this on its own on my lips for a “better than your actual lip colour” look (yes it is totally a thing and if it’s not, I’m making it a thing). I like to fill my lips with this liner and then dab some lip balm on top and it’s a great neutral lip look for the day!
  4. NARS’ Larger Than Life Eye liner in Vio Veneto: Hands down best black eye liner I have ever used. Period. Plus, it’s perfect to wear on your waterline and won’t smudge at all on a hot sunny day when you’re hiking or if you’re out on a boat (because those are CLEARLY what I do when I travel…for verification follow me on instagram).
  5. Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner in Trooper: Okay. I cannot and will not leave my house without this liquid liner.
  6. MAC Cosmetics’ Paint Pot in Groundwork: Again, I love wearing this on its own & on days I don’t want to do anything extravagant with my eyes. Also, this is a great base for your lids!
  7. NARS Pro Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base: Literally, THE BEST. Nothing will move. Trust me. NOTHING!
  8. Christian Dior’s Crème De Rose Smoothing Plumping Lip Balm: Remember how I said I love wearing the Whirl lip liner on its own with some lip balm? This is the balm for that look! This keeps my lips smooth while adding a little life to my lips!
  9. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Soft Brown: Oh my brows love this so much!
  10. MAC Cosmetics’ Prep+Prime Fix+: When you travel, your skin’s moisture can get messed up (there are proven theories out there). I find this not only wakes up my face but it adds moisture for a nice dewey look! Also, this is a great mist for foiling eye shadows for a night time look!
  11. Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel: Have I not made this obvious? I get lazy sometimes with my makeup. This product is great for putting on in the morning (either with brow wiz or on its own) and it’ll last until you take your makeup off!
  12. Christian Dior’s Diorshow Waterproof Mascara: My most trusted and used product for obvious reasons.
  13. Make Up For Ever’s HD setting Powder: Because ALL of your instagram selfies need to look awesome without a filter! Duh.
  14. Urban Decay’s Ultimate Ozone Multipurpose Primer Lip Pencil: I use this under the one coloured lipstick I take with me because it really holds on to your lip colour for the day without feathering!
  15. Smashbox’s Photo Finish Foundation Primer with SPF 15: I love this primer! You can wear it literally under any type of foundation and it almost blurs out all visible imperfections! Plus, it has SPF 15!
  16. Smashbox’s Always On Liquid Lipstick in Bawse: Because everyone should feel like a BAWSE when they travel! Plus, you want your lips to have a pop of colour during night time outings!
  17. NARS’ Bronzer in Laguna: Everyone should have this product. You can contour or just add a little bit of colour to your face!
  18. Urban Decay’s Naked Basics’ Eye Shadow Palette: You can create day time looks and night time looks with this palette. Plus, I love the compact size!
  19. Tom Ford Beauty’s Cheek Colour in Wicked: I’m literally so obsessed with this blush!! It’s pretty. It’s also buildable, so you can dab a bit during the day and a bit more for the night!
  20. NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint in Annapurna Medium 2: This is one of the easiest and comfortable wearing liquid foundation I’ve tried! It’s a buildable tinted moisturizer, which is perfect for traveling!
  21. Smashbox’s Always Sharp liner in Royal: In case you want a pop of colour with all your neutral eye looks!
  22. Tools: They range from Tarte to Sephora brand and are literally just brushes which work for me!

See you in the next post!

Review: Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner in Trooper

IMG_6251

Yes, yes, yes…I know I’ve been MIA lately. But I’m finally back with a review of one of my favourite liquid liners. If you’ve been an avid reader of this blog, then you are already aware of my love for MAC’s Liquid liner. I’ve always said that, MAC’s liquid liner is probably one of the best liners I have ever used/tried. But a little while ago, I purchased Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner in Trooper because I had heard such amazing reviews about it. This particular liner is like any other liquid liner. The application tip is what makes it different. It’s designed like a marker so that you get precise effortless application with the superfine and flexible brush tip. This liner is high pigmented and waterproof. The colour I got was black, which isn’t a surprise since black eye liners are a weakness for me.

My verdict?

IMG_6253

This is absolutely one of the best liquid liners I have ever tried. Yes, I still love my MAC Penultimate liquid liner but my love for this particular liner is now equal to my love for MACs. I find that I reach for this liner quite often and you really can get a variety of lines from this one liner. First of all, the pigmentation on this product is incredible. It’s super super super opaque, especially with one stroke (which is something that’s great for someone like me who is always on the go). Secondly, the formula of this product is phenomenal. It’s waterproof, fade proof, melt proof, and crack proof. It literally did not budge and I had it on my eyes for a good chunk of the day. The other thing I love about this liner is the fact that it dries super quickly on application so that it’s run-resistant. Lastly, the packaging and the applicator tip are the best. The applicator brush doesn’t break and doesn’t dry out. You really can get the most precise line from this liquid liner. If you see the swatches below, then you can see that this liner can make thick or thin lines with one easy stroke, depending on what you want. All in all, this is a must buy for anyone who loves liquid liners. You can purchase this at Sephora for $23 (CDN), that’s where I got mine! Don’t forget to follow me on Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr and Pinterest! 🙂

Pros:

  • Waterproof, fade proof, crack proof, run resistant
  • Super opaque
  • Brilliant brush tip applicator
  • Long lasting

Cons:

  • None

Rating: 10/10 (If I was stranded on an island, then I would definitely want this liquid liner with me)

Makeup Diaries: The Matte Sultry Eye

IMG_5286 IMG_5271

So a little while ago, I posted a review about the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette (which you can read about right here) and I figured I’d share an eye look that I wear constantly. It’s easy, simple, and quick. Remember, you can always swap out colours to make it more unique to your taste. Also, if you aren’t following me on my various social media accounts then feel free to do so (Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Pinterest).

Have a fun time recreating this look dolls! x

1) Apply an eye shadow primer of your choice on to your entire eyelid. I’m using MAC’s Paint Pot in Groundwork.

IMG_5291IMG_5233

2) Take the shade “W.O.S.” and apply all over your eyelid, extending to your brow bone.

IMG_5294IMG_5235

3) With a crease brush, take the shade “Faint” and apply on to the crease area, extending it to the outer corners of your eyelids. Make sure to blend into your brow bone and soften any harsh lines.

IMG_5297IMG_5256 IMG_5241IMG_5239

4) Take a black liner of your choice and line your eyes, staying close to the lash line. I’m using Urban Decay’s 24/7 liner in Zero. Also, don’t forget to line your waterline with the same liner.

IMG_5298IMG_5249

5) Take a smudger brush and dip into the shade “Crave” and trace over the line you just created with your eyeliner. Smudge the liner out. This will create a smoky sultry effect.

IMG_5299 IMG_5260IMG_5261

6) Take a volumizing mascara of your choice and apply two coats to your lashes. I’m using Buxom’s Buxom Lash Waterproof mascara. Fill in your brows and set it. I’m using Maybelline’s Brow drama in clear.

IMG_5300

7) Take a highlight colour of your choice and highlight your brow bone. I used “W.O.S.”. Clean off any excess fall out with a clean brush.

Review: MAC’s Pearlglide Intense Eye Liner in Petrol Blue

IMG_4245

MAC is seriously one of the best makeup companies out there. Even though I’ve got my favourite brands, I always find myself going…sometimes running…to a MAC store to pick up any instant makeup needs. Since spring is just around the corner, I wanted to go pick up some really fun eyeliners for the season. After swatching the entire stash of pearlglide liners, I fell in love with this particular colour. MAC’s pearlglide eye pencils are a perfect mix of rich colour with shimmer and sparkle. I’ve tried other liners from this line and I absolutely love them. So I knew that my expectations for this particular liner would be very high. I got the shade Petrol blue, which is described as a deep navy with a pearly sheen finish. To me, the colour has microshimmer in there, which is really pretty because it almost looks like a starry night. This has become my favourite shimmery navy blue liner of all time. I haven’t come across anything really like it so it’s pretty unique. I love the formula of the pearlglide liners. I find that they are extremely creamy, soft and smooth. Which is perfect because it glides on your eyes like butter! The opacity of the colour is incredible! It’s so pigmented that with one swipe, you really get the colour you need. It’s super blendable, which is great if you are creating a smoldering smoky eye look. I found that with this liner, it lasted pretty much the entire day on my eyes without smudging or having any sort of fall out from the micro-glitter. Although, I will say, that when I was removing the liner with a makeup remover, the glitter was a little tough to remove but it did come off (that could be more because I wasn’t using a great remover). All in all, this is a fantastic product not just for Spring but for all year around. The colour is beautiful and unique. The price ($19 CDN) is also fantastic because you are getting a high quality product! This is a highly recommended product and I can probably use this every day for the rest of my life! You can purchase this online or at any MAC stores.

Happy Shopping Dolls! x

Pros:

  • Rich, Luxurious in colour and texture
  • Buttery Smooth formula, glides perfectly on lids for an intense colour
  • Beautiful opaque colour with shimmer, no major fall out
  • Blends really well
  • Long-wearing and smudge proof

Cons:

  • None at all!

Rating: 10/10 (This is my favourite navy blue eyeliner of all time! If I had to choose another eyeliner, besides a black liner, to use for the rest of my life; then this would be it!)

Review: Benefit’s They’re Real Mascara

IMG_4238

I have been dying to try this mascara out for the longest time. Mainly, because everyone I knew that has used it, keeps raving about it. Since, everyone is now well aware of how obsessed I am with trying new mascaras. I had to go ahead and give this one a whirl.

What’s is it?

IMG_4240

Benefit’s They’re Real Mascara is a mascara that has been formulated to transform your lashes for the better. It’s a jet-black mascara that lengthens, curls, volumizes, lifts, and separates your lashes for a wide-eyed “spectacular out to here look”. The brush is not your typical brush. It has staggered bristles that grab close to the root, so that the formula covers every bit of your lashes. Even the tip of the brush has bristles, so that you can reach even the tiniest of lashes. The formula is long wearing, but not completely waterproof. But it does promise you that you will have silky lashes that won’t smudge, clump or dry out and it’ll give you a luxurious effect.

My Verdict?

Okay, I’ve been using this for a little while now, and I must say it’s a pretty decent mascara. This mascara, 100%, curled my lashes from root to tip with no clumping or problems. It also gave my lashes a thick jet black coating with one swipe, which is a huge plus for me. My lashes weren’t clumpy or dry. In fact, they were soft to touch. My only issue with this mascara is the fact that it isn’t waterproof and there isn’t a waterproof formula out yet. I get really paranoid with the fact that it might smudge and make me look like I have raccoon eyes, so that is why I always opt for any waterproof version of any mascara. With that being said, the product did claim not to smudge and to be completely honest, it didn’t smudge. Despite not being waterproof, that was something that really impressed me. The brush is pretty unique. I found that it really did get to every single lash on my eyelid. At $29 (CDN), I definitely think this is a must try for any mascara lovers. I did see a definite change in my lashes and the product’s claims are one thousand percent correct. I only wish it was waterproof or there was a waterproof version of this mascara! But I will say, that for a formula that isn’t waterproof, this product didn’t once budge nor did it smudge. You can purchase this at any Benefit retailers!

Happy Shopping Dolls! x

Pros:

  • Jet black colour
  • Great formula, lengthens, curls, volumizes, lifts and separates lashes
  • Doesn’t dry out your lashes
  • Doesn’t smudge easily, long wear
  • Easy to use, great brush and bristles

Cons:

  • Not Waterproof

Rating: 9/10 (I deducted a mark mainly because it wasn’t waterproof but despite that, this is a pretty amazing mascara everyone should try out!)

Here’s a quick shimmery smoky eye using the Naked 2 palette. If you haven’t read my review on it, you can do so right here! This is one of my favourite eye look to wear because it’s shimmery and sultry all at the same time. It really makes your eyes stand out and it’s perfect for a night out!

IMG_4013 IMG_3975

IMG_4019 IMG_3991

IMG_4023 IMG_3994

10) Apply the shade Foxy to your brow bone to highlight.

IMG_4018 IMG_3997

…and you are done! Remember: you can always modify this look to add your own unique twist to it! I use this eye look often, but sometimes I add different colours into the mix depending on my mood!
