Review: MAC Cosmetics’ Next To Nothing Face Colour & Powder

DSC04290

If you’ve been following me on Instagram, then you already know that I’ve been using this particular foundation (it’s not marketed as a foundation…but I’m going to call it foundation lol) for the past couple weeks. You know what this means? I’ve got a new review for you, just like old times!

What is it?

It’s an ultra glowy foundation created for a no-makeup makeup look. These babies are meant to give you a radiant glow while perfecting your skin. They include special micro-light thingamajigs, which I’m sure if you go on their website you can read about…I’m here to tell you my experience with using these two products.

The liquid version of this “Next-to-nothing” face colour line is absolutely flawless. I love the way it feels on my skin. It’s balmy and smooth. I layered it with a mattifying primer and I still got a gorgeous dewey look. I’ve used these alone and I’ve paired it with other products to see what the effect would be…and it was the same: perfect. It looks like you have a filter on your face without looking caked at all. It didn’t crease nor did it become oily throughout the day. I have combination oily skin, so I was really worried about that but it was flawless (if you want to head to my Instagram, you can see the results yourself. I used NO editing tools or filters on that picture).

The powder version of it is great too! I can definitely see myself using this throughout the summer time because neither of the two (alone or combined together) felt heavy on my face. It’s lightweight and very easy to blend. In fact, it felt like it gelled with my skin! MAC recommends that you use these with synthetic brushes and/or sponges and that’s exactly what I did and the results were amazing! My face was radiant and it works really well with other makeup too (i.e. blush or contour).

If you’re looking for a no-makeup look face product…these are it. These picture well, they look gorgeous in person, they layer really well with other products and it makes you look like you have no make up on! I will mention that the shade range is limited. I didn’t swatch these here because ultimately with foundation it comes down to what your skin can gel with. And, I can definitely say: this is a product that will work with different skin types! It smells exactly like the Fix+. But overall, I really loved the way it looked on my skin! Also, the pressed powders are definitely more pigmented than the liquid form of this product, but both are buildable (which is perfect for the summer time).

Price:

  • Liquid: $38 (CDN)
  • Powder: $32 (CDN)

Pros:

  • Lightweight, buildable, looks pretty on skin!
  • Leaves you with the perfect radiant glow!
  • Very natural looking, doesn’t crease or cake

Cons:

  • The smell can be problematic for some
  • Not a lot of shades in the range, which is a surprise for MAC

Overall Rating: 9/10

Favourite Lipsticks For Fall

dscf4873

Hope you’re having a rocking day! If you haven’t checked out my last post, you can do so right here. Also, don’t forget to follow me on all my socials (listed below as well as on the side of this webpage). With Fall all in bloom (yes, I just used a summer metaphor for Fall, whatevs), here are 7 lip products I’m obsessing over:

  1. YSL’s Glossy Lip Stain in Corail Fauve: Don’t be fooled by only wearing dark lips this fall. Coral lips are a pretty bold statement for Fall too. You can pair this up with your dark-grungey-rocker chic outfits to add a pop of colour this season!
  2. Kat Von D’s Studded Kiss Lipstick in Homegirl: If this doesn’t make you feel like a goddess who’s in an enchanted monsterville castle, then I don’t know what else will! Seriously, I love this shade for the Fall for obvious reasons (it’s darkest of dark, duh!)
  3. Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Liquid Lipstick in Kathryn: You saw me gloat about this shade in a Vlog (yes, I used to make those). This is my go-to-shade for nude lips in the Fall time (makes sense?). It’s also a perfect pout for those who are getting into bold lips this season.
  4. Tarte’s Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint in Lovespell: I just love everything about this lip. It’s purply, magenta-y and pink-y. Remember how I mentioned earlier that Fall shouldn’t equate to dark (uhm scroll up!)? This is one of those shades that’s perfect for this Fall season’s bold lips.
  5. MAC’s Matte Lipstick in D for Danger: This shade gives you the perfect berry lips, trust me. I’ve never seen a colour so gorg on my skin tone! It’s perfect for the fall time because it’s dark enough for Fall but gives you colour that’s workable.
  6. Bite Beauty’s Matte Crème Lip Crayon in Cognac: Here’s a true Fall inspired lip colour. Initially, I was too scared to try this lipstick, but once I wore it…I couldn’t take it off! Brown lips totally work for the Fall time, duh!
  7. NARS’ Audacious Lipstick in Charlotte: You were probably wondering when I’d mention a wine red lipstick on this list…well here you go! This one wears perfectly well on your lips. I can’t explain to you how beautiful this looks and my constant need to wear this 24/7 (lolz)!

See you in the next post! 🙂

Review: MAC Cosmetics’ Fluidline in Waveline

10575302_10153954928443503_2890290945866574228_o

Let it be known: my world WILL be in shambles if all forms of eyeliners were extinct (as dramatic as that sounds, it’s the truth). Now you already know that black eyeliners are literally the only thing I wear (most of the time). So why would I venture outside of that colour you ask? Well…LOOK. AT. THAT. COLOUR!! Is it not the most beautiful navy blue you’ve ever seen? Clearly, this was a complete impulse purchase on my part.

What is it?

12419287_10153954928103503_1298857937263987907_o

MAC cosmetics’ Fluidline liner in Waveline is described as a navy blue gel liner that has low levels of gold pearl infused in there (I know sounds super fancy). As you can see, it comes in a very generous pot (like most of their gel liners). Upon application, it’s supposed to feel silky smooth that gives off a soft finished look. It’s foolproof (you know that’s perfect for someone like me), long-wearing and the most important aspect of all gel liners….it’s smudge-proof! With one stroke of your brush, you are supposed to get the most opaque colour on your lids.

How long did I use it for?

Since August 2015 + counting.

First Impressions and thoughts?

12440719_10153954928008503_8279045466574419148_o

As I mentioned before, the colour itself was predominantly the reason why I bought this. Once I dipped my angle brush into the pot to get some product on, I already knew that I was going to love this. It glided on smoothly on my lids and didn’t feel dry at all. So for me, that was already a huge plus point. The colour was also so opaque that I literally contemplated wearing this every day. It was easy to apply and it didn’t smudge!

My Verdict?

If you’re going to purchase any gel liner, I highly recommend that you try this one out. This particular shade is wearable and gorgeous (& this is coming from a black eyeliner enthusiast). Every single claim is true about this product. I love the size and generosity of this product. Also, I need to mention the fact that I’ve had this for months and the gel liner has not dried out at all (A HUGE BONUS). It’s pro-longwear and I found that it literally did not budge/smudge until I used makeup remover to remove it. It was silky smooth and it glided effortlessly on to my lids. The formula was not drying on my lids at all! Another thing I really like about this product is that without any primers/shadows under it, you still get a pretty opaque line, which is completely budge proof (the swatches are done with no primer/shadow on the lids).

Price & Where can you buy it?

$20 (CDN) at MAC Cosmetics stores & retailers

Would I repurchase it?

THOUSAND PERCENT (also, I’m definitely picking up some other shades in the line in the next few weeks!)

Pros:

  • Smudge, budge proof
  • Opaque colour
  • Glides perfectly on the lids
  • Doesn’t dry out
  • Feels silky+smooth on your lids

Cons:

  • Nothing, Nada, Zilch!

Overall Rating: 10/10 (I cannot find a single thing wrong with this gel liner! If you’re on the lookout for a navy blue liner, then this is it!)

Beauty Diaries: My Favourite MAC Products

 IMG_4724

So if you don’t know this already, now you will: I am a certified MAC cosmetics addict! This was one of the first beauty brands I had ever used, when I got into makeup and I’ve continued to use their products until now. Although, they have their hits and misses, there are a few staple products from this brand that I cannot live without. Here’s a list of the products that are absolute must-haves:

IMG_4723MAC Penultimate Eye Liner Rapidblack

This is one of the best liquid eye liners I have ever used! The colour is opaque and the best thing about this product is the fact that it’s simple and easy to use. It’s designed like a marker with a felt tip that’s super easy to control. It takes me less than 20 seconds to line my eyes with this liner and I use it everyday!

IMG_4720IMG_4721  MAC Studio Fix Foundation (NC43)

I know that a lot of people have a love/hate relationship with this product. I’ve had nothing but good experiences with this powder foundation. Since I have combination oily skin, this product keeps my shine at bay while giving me great coverage. This is one foundation I always end up using because it works great with my skin!

IMG_4715MAC Lipstick in Bombshell

This has to be one of the most unique pink coloured lipstick I have ever used or owned. It has a very nice gold sheen to it, which is what I think makes this product unique. The formula, as always, is great on my lips and I find that I reach for this particular lipstick whenever I am in doubt about what lip colour to use. I find it goes with any makeup look!

IMG_4713IMG_4714

MAC Mineralize SkinFinish Natural (Medium Deep)

If you must only purchase one product from MAC, then this has to be it! This is one of the best light coverage foundations I have ever used. I use this to set my liquid foundations as well as I wear this on top of BB creams. Since it’s light coverage, it’s not cakey and it sets everything perfectly. Plus, as the name says, it looks super natural and just blends with your skin!

IMG_4718MAC Eyeshadow in Shroom

I love this eyeshadow because it’s super versatile and the shade is absolutely gorgeous! The texture and formula of this shadow is awesome. You can use this as a highlight colour for your brow bones, cheek bones and your cupid’s arrow. As you can see, this is one of my most used eye shadows because it looks very natural on my skin and it looks pretty on my lids!

IMG_4705MAC Lipstick in Relentlessly Red

I bought this coraly pinky red matte lipstick colour on a whim and I’m so glad because I’m in love with this bold lip colour! The colour is pretty unique and it’s a matte lipstick, which is slowly becoming one of my favourite formulas I gravitate towards now. Everything about this lipstick is perfect, from the colour to the longevity on my lips!

IMG_4709MAC Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in High Energy

Wearing lip liners on its own is slowly starting to become one of my favourite things to do. This particular lip liner is one of the creamiest liners I have ever used. Since it’s matte and pro longwear, I was surprised to see that my lips didn’t dry out at all. I love the colour. It’s a beautiful orangey bright poppy red, which is a perfect colour for a bold lip look!

IMG_4716MAC Nail Polish in Spice

I have been obsessed with this nail polish for a while now. This has to be the perfect blush/nude coloured nail polish I have ever come across. It looks amazing with my skin tone and it literally goes with anything. The formula is creamy and opaque. You will most likely find this shade on my nails anytime you see me, since it’s my most used!

IMG_4710MAC Mineralize Concealer (NW 35)

I’ve tried my fair share of concealers and this has to be my favourite! I use it for my undereye circles, any discoloration and blemishes. The coverage of this formula is incredible and it’s not drying at all! I love the brush tip that comes with this liquid concealer but I use a concealer brush to blend out the formula. It’s not cakey and literally binds to your skin!

IMG_4719MAC Lip Liner in Spice

Best. Lip. Liner. Ever! Seriously, I cannot even stress how much I love this lip liner. I wear this alone, I pair it with other lipsticks and it looks great! Everything from the longevity of this product on your lips to the colour is perfect! If you are looking for the perfect nude lip liner, then this is definitely it!

IMG_4712MAC Lipstick in Ruby Woo

I’m pretty sure everyone knows of this cult favourite lipstick! Ruby Woo has to be one of the best red matte lipsticks out there. I find that this shade works with pretty much every skin tone and it looks amazing on everyone! The formula of this product isn’t drying and the colour is incredibly opaque, which is why this is one of my favourite red lippies!

IMG_4704MAC Lip Glass in Pink Lemonade

I’m not a huge lip gloss girl, although I used to wear them a lot when I was younger; but this particular lip gloss is one gloss I reach for because it looks so pretty on my lips! It’s a coraly orange colour with shimmer so it’s perfect to wear on its own or layer on top of other lipsticks (which looks pretty great). I find that this is one lipgloss I use the most from my stash.

IMG_4708MAC Powder Blush in Blunt

This product is a new edition to my makeup drawer and all I can say is that it is quickly becoming one of my most used products! This powder blush is mainly used as a contouring powder. The reason why I love this is because you can control the colour to contour your face really well. One swipe of this shade gives you a natural looking contour, but you can also build it up for special occasions!

Makeup Diaries: My Current Beauty Obsessions

IMG_4617

Who else is excited for spring to be here? I know I am! I find that with the season changing, I tend to gravitate towards makeup products that are more versatile and easy to use. Below you will find some of my favourite products and why I think they’re perfect for spring! Also, don’t forget to follow me on Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and Tumblr!

Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream SPF 35: I love this product because it works like a tinted moisturizer, which is perfect for spring! It lasts all day, gives me a natural look and leaves my skin looking flawless!

IMG_4619

Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Crayon in Blackquer: I love black eye liner, no matter the season. This one is perfect because of its amazing staying power. It literally doesn’t come off unless you use makeup remover!

MAC Eye Shadow in Shroom: I love this eye shadow for spring because it looks amazing on every skin tone. It’s a pale colour that is opaque and its got a sheeny finish, which is perfect for spring. You can wear this alone or pair it with another eye shadow for a smoky eye!

 IMG_4622

MAC Eye Shadow in Antiqued: why not re-invent your smoky eye makeup this spring? This coppery brown colour is the perfect colour to swap your black shadow for. You can wear this on its own or pair it up with Shroom for a very modern yet pretty smoky eye, which is perfect for the spring time!

L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Waterproof Mascara: Mascara should be worn during all seasons & at all times. No ifs, ands, or buts. This one is waterproof, which I like because with the season in transition, I find that my eyes water a bit. So this will prevent racoon eyes.

IMG_4620

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz: This has become one of my favourite eyebrow products ever created! This fills in your brows perfectly and naturally. It’s also very easy to use and your brows stay in place all day (hash tag: Eyebrows on fleek)!

Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in Hydrangea: This is one of the prettiest pinky coral colour I have ever come across. Coral lipsticks are my go to for spring. It’s a perfect pop of colour that goes with everything!

Review: MAC’s Pearlglide Intense Eye Liner in Petrol Blue

IMG_4245

MAC is seriously one of the best makeup companies out there. Even though I’ve got my favourite brands, I always find myself going…sometimes running…to a MAC store to pick up any instant makeup needs. Since spring is just around the corner, I wanted to go pick up some really fun eyeliners for the season. After swatching the entire stash of pearlglide liners, I fell in love with this particular colour. MAC’s pearlglide eye pencils are a perfect mix of rich colour with shimmer and sparkle. I’ve tried other liners from this line and I absolutely love them. So I knew that my expectations for this particular liner would be very high. I got the shade Petrol blue, which is described as a deep navy with a pearly sheen finish. To me, the colour has microshimmer in there, which is really pretty because it almost looks like a starry night. This has become my favourite shimmery navy blue liner of all time. I haven’t come across anything really like it so it’s pretty unique. I love the formula of the pearlglide liners. I find that they are extremely creamy, soft and smooth. Which is perfect because it glides on your eyes like butter! The opacity of the colour is incredible! It’s so pigmented that with one swipe, you really get the colour you need. It’s super blendable, which is great if you are creating a smoldering smoky eye look. I found that with this liner, it lasted pretty much the entire day on my eyes without smudging or having any sort of fall out from the micro-glitter. Although, I will say, that when I was removing the liner with a makeup remover, the glitter was a little tough to remove but it did come off (that could be more because I wasn’t using a great remover). All in all, this is a fantastic product not just for Spring but for all year around. The colour is beautiful and unique. The price ($19 CDN) is also fantastic because you are getting a high quality product! This is a highly recommended product and I can probably use this every day for the rest of my life! You can purchase this online or at any MAC stores.

Happy Shopping Dolls! x

Pros:

  • Rich, Luxurious in colour and texture
  • Buttery Smooth formula, glides perfectly on lids for an intense colour
  • Beautiful opaque colour with shimmer, no major fall out
  • Blends really well
  • Long-wearing and smudge proof

Cons:

  • None at all!

Rating: 10/10 (This is my favourite navy blue eyeliner of all time! If I had to choose another eyeliner, besides a black liner, to use for the rest of my life; then this would be it!)
