Favourite Spring Perfumes

IMG_0525

With April approaching and spring time just around the corner, why not change up your fragrance? I love buying different fragrances and find myself investing in new ones every time a season rolls around (which I should stop doing because it clearly affects the cashflow…). After going spicy and woodsy in the winter, I tend to go floraly and fresh in the spring. Here are my top 5 Spring Time Fragrance Picks (you can buy them any place that sells fragrances):

  1. Viktor Rolf Flower Bomb: This is one of my favourites. I sometimes sneak this fragrance during other seasons because it’s so beautiful. It’s flowery enough to be sweet. This is a very classy scent that will leave you and everyone around you happy!
  2. Dolce and Gabanna Light Blue: I cannot live without this fragrance during the spring and summertime. It’s citrusy, It’s fresh…It smells like you just stepped out of a D&G shower.  This is also very addictive for you and everyone around you ;).
  3. Marc Jacobs Daisy: The name and the bottle scream spring time! The best way to describe this fragrance is the cool wind that breezes through when you’re lying on the grass. I love this scent for Spring. It lingers on and it smells flowery without smelling flowery (like that makes any sense?).
  4. Victoria’s Secret Bombshell: This fragrance makes you feel like a bombshell! It’s light, fruity, flowery with a tiny hint of vanilla. I love this fragrance, especially for work, because it’s not overpowering. It’s enough to get you noticed without making the person beside you cough.
  5. Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche: This is a must have in any fragrance collection.  This is the perfect spring scent. Like it’s name…it’s fresh, flowery, and very chanel. I’ve had numerous people come upto me and ask me what I’m wearing and where they can buy it..whenever I have this on.

Remember: When testing fragrances, especially for spring, spray on skin (preferably your wrist) to see if the fragrance suits you. In order to have your own signature spring fragrance, you have to be comfy with it…which means don’t buy it unless you LOVE it!

Makeup Diaries: My Current Beauty Obsessions

IMG_4617

Who else is excited for spring to be here? I know I am! I find that with the season changing, I tend to gravitate towards makeup products that are more versatile and easy to use. Below you will find some of my favourite products and why I think they’re perfect for spring! Also, don’t forget to follow me on Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and Tumblr!

Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream SPF 35: I love this product because it works like a tinted moisturizer, which is perfect for spring! It lasts all day, gives me a natural look and leaves my skin looking flawless!

IMG_4619

Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Crayon in Blackquer: I love black eye liner, no matter the season. This one is perfect because of its amazing staying power. It literally doesn’t come off unless you use makeup remover!

MAC Eye Shadow in Shroom: I love this eye shadow for spring because it looks amazing on every skin tone. It’s a pale colour that is opaque and its got a sheeny finish, which is perfect for spring. You can wear this alone or pair it with another eye shadow for a smoky eye!

 IMG_4622

MAC Eye Shadow in Antiqued: why not re-invent your smoky eye makeup this spring? This coppery brown colour is the perfect colour to swap your black shadow for. You can wear this on its own or pair it up with Shroom for a very modern yet pretty smoky eye, which is perfect for the spring time!

L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Waterproof Mascara: Mascara should be worn during all seasons & at all times. No ifs, ands, or buts. This one is waterproof, which I like because with the season in transition, I find that my eyes water a bit. So this will prevent racoon eyes.

IMG_4620

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz: This has become one of my favourite eyebrow products ever created! This fills in your brows perfectly and naturally. It’s also very easy to use and your brows stay in place all day (hash tag: Eyebrows on fleek)!

Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in Hydrangea: This is one of the prettiest pinky coral colour I have ever come across. Coral lipsticks are my go to for spring. It’s a perfect pop of colour that goes with everything!

Fashion Diaries: The Best Dressed at the Screen Actors’ Guild Awards

Who watched the SAG awards? It was great to see all the actors appreciate and celebrate one another. Almost everyone that was expected to win, won and it was fun to watch everyone’s acceptance speeches! The SAG Awards’ red carpet had to be one of the best red carpets I’ve seen this awards season. Everyone was dressed to impress and picking the best dressed was really hard! Since all the men were dressed great (trust me, none of them looked bad), I decided to highlight my favourite best dressed women on this list! Here they are, in no particular order:

Julianne-Moore-sag-awards-red-carpet-2015Julianne Moore

Julianne Moore looked impeccably stunning in an emerald-green Givenchy Couture body hugging gown. The detailed work on this dress is just so exquisite. The hair, the makeup and the accessories were on point and she looked amazing!

Reese Witherspoon graced the red carpet in a white Armani one shouldered gown. The cap sleeve on the one shouldered end was unique. Reese’s hair, makeup and accessories were paired harmoniously together. She looked incredibly classy!

All hail Jen! This vintage Galliano body hugging gown with a deep V neck is beautiful! The exquisite work on this dress is pretty. The best part of this ensemble is they way she has accessorized her outfit. She keeps her signature hair and makeup to finish this gorgeous look!

Marc Jacobs can do no wrong & it’s amazing to see his creation on the red carpet! This modern olive-green gown is amazing! I love the knotted halter & the detailing on the sides of this dress. Also, the belt at the waist is edgy! Claire’s perfect hair, minimal makeup & accessories finishes this glam look!

rs_634x860-150125170751-634.camila-alves-SAG-Awards-0115Camila Alves

Jewel toned purple is one of my favourite colours to wear and Camila is killing this look! This Donna Karan body hugging strapless mermaid gown is lovely. I’m glad she went with a sweetheart neckline on this drapey dress! Minimal makeup, pretty hair and practically no accessories finish this look.

And this is what you call perfection on the red carpet! Emma Stone looks absolutely stunning in this Dior black menswear inspired ensemble! The sheer bottom half is perfect. The sleeves are perfect. The whole outfit is perfect! She styles it well with a bold red lip, defined eyes & slicked back hair!

Review: Marc Jacobs’ Lust For Lacquer Lip Vinyl-Full in Shooting Stars (#316)

IMG_3414

This has been on my beauty wish list to try for the longest time! I was happy to receive this when I cashed in my 1000 points at Sephora (you can read more about it here). The Marc Jacobs beauty line has become one of my favourites beauty brands of all time. This product is a lip gloss with full colour coverage. The formula is infused with champagne grapes to give you lust-worthy colour. It also includes a plumping component with antioxidants, essential oils and a hint of effervescence for a perfect pout with the highest shine. The colour Shooting Stars is a berry mauve with shimmer. With this many claims, I couldn’t wait to use this product at all!

My Verdict?

IMG_3415

This has to be one of the best beauty product the Marc Jacobs line has to offer. This lip gloss is more like a liquid lipstick and I am completely in love with this product! Firstly, the packaging of this product is super classy and luxurious. The brush applicator is phenomenal. It perfectly glides on my lips without feathering at all. Also, the shape of this pillowed applicator is perfect for precise application! Secondly, the formula is incredible (actually, I wasn’t expecting anything less). The fact that it has champagne grapes is probably the reason why the formula is so amazing. It’s creamy, not sticky and the consistency is pretty great. There was no tingling feeling from the plumping component from this product at all. My lips were moisturized and didn’t feel one bit dried out. Thirdly, the colour is incredibly pigmented. Even though this particular colour had shimmer, it wasn’t overdone and you were able to see the berry/maroon colour perfectly. Given that Pantone’s colour of the year is Marsala, I find this colour to be perfect! Lastly, the longevity of this product is fantastic. I didn’t have to re-apply as often and the colour lasted through the usual eating, drinking, etc. The only downside to this product is probably the price. At a whopping $34 (CDN), this really is a luxury item. Personally, if I hadn’t gotten this as part of the perk, I still would’ve purchased it because this is really an incredible product. If money is the only thing that’s stopping you from purchasing this, then think of this as a long-term investment. This really is worth every bit of your 34 dollars. You can purchase this online or at Sephora!

Happy Shopping Dolls! x

Pros:

  • Longevity of the product on your lips is incredible
  • The colour is highly pigmented
  • The packaging is luxurious and the applicator tip is perfect
  • The formula is non sticky, creamy, moisturizing

Cons:

  • Price

Rating: 9/10 (Seriously, one of the best pigmented lip gloss I have ever tried and I can’t wait to try out the other colours!)

Fashion Diaries: My Holiday Lunch Party Ensemble

Recently, I had to attend a Holiday lunch party and decided to do a little blog post on my ensemble. I had a blast putting this whole look together and had a lovely Holiday lunch party with my coworkers.

Outfit

IMG_3428

I wanted to channel my inner Audrey Hepburn (she is one of my style idols), so I decided to go for an all black outfit. This way my accessories, hair, and makeup would be the focal point of the ensemble. I wore a black long-sleeved elastic waist dress from Forever 21 (this is one of my favourite dresses to wear because you can dress it up or dress it down depending on your accessories and makeup). I paired the dress with black leggings since I wanted to go for a neutral classy look.

Accessories

IMG_3431IMG_3579

I wanted to incorporate the colour green into my ensemble and figured the best way to do that would be through my accessories. Since gold was my main accent colour, I decided to go with a gold and emerald statement necklace (which I got from Ardene). I went with two rings, a dainty rose gold bow ring from Kate Spade (well because everyone knows my obsession with bows) and an emerald cocktail ring, which matched perfectly with my necklace. I added a woven brown belt to match my shoes and to accentuate the waistline.

Shoes/Purse

IMG_3430IMG_3520

Since I wore leggings, I opted for mid-calf brown slouchy boots, which I got years ago from Costa Blanca. They were comfy and perfect for my ensemble! Since it was a Holiday party, I wanted to also incorporate the colour red somehow (which I did through my lips as well). So I decided to go with a red Michael Kors quilted/studded crossbody purse (which my mom was generous enough to let me borrow for the day). As I mentioned that gold was one of my main accent colours, so the gold detailing on this purse was a perfect match for my other accessories.

Hair

IMG_0441

I went with one of my favourite go-to hairstyles at the moment, curls! Here’s a tutorial I did earlier on how you can get the perfect curls using a wand.

Makeup

IMG_3432

I went with a bold red lip so that meant keeping all other parts of my face neutral so that everything was balanced out. Below you will find a list of products I used to achieve the look I wanted and I’ve also shown you how to get the subtle smoky eye look I did!

IMG_3577

The Subtle Smokey Eye look using Urban Decay’s Naked Palette

1) Apply an eyeshadow primer all over your lids (I went with Urban Decay’s Primer Potion).

2) Apply a base colour all over the lids (I went with Tarte’s Smoldereyes in Champagne).

IMG_3574IMG_3524

3) Take the shade Buck and with a crease brush apply to the outer corners and blend it into your crease.

IMG_3572IMG_3529

4) Take the shade Toasted with a flat shadow brush and apply all over the lids.

IMG_3571IMG_3531

5) Take the same crease brush you used earlier and dip into Hustle and Darckhorse; and apply only to the outer corners of your eyes, smoking it in circular motions into your crease.

IMG_3544

6) Take the shade Darkhorse with a liner brush and line your lower lash line as well as your upper lash line.

IMG_3546

7) Take your favourite black eyeliner (I used Urban Decay’s Zero) and apply to your waterline as well as line your upper lash line (from mid-lid to the outer corner).

IMG_3559

8) Take a liner brush and soften the line by tracing the line you just created.

IMG_3552

9) Take the shade Virgin and Naked and apply to the brow bone.

IMG_3573

10) With a clean crease brush, soften any harsh lines.

IMG_3566

11) I wanted to define my eyes a little bit more so I took a gel liner (Marc Jacobs Liner in Blacquer) and decided to do a mini winged line.

IMG_3562IMG_3567

12) I finished the look with two coats of Maybelline’s Big Eyes Mascara!

And this was my whole ensemble at a recent Holiday lunch! Hope you are having a wonderful Holiday season and find some inspiration from my look for any of your upcoming parties! Make sure to follow me on Twitter, Pinterest and Tumblr for all the latest updates on this blog!

Sephora VIB Haul

IMG_3078IMG_3079

The annual Sephora VIB Sale took place this past weekend and anyone who knows me, knows that this is the one day I wait for every year (next to my birthday & Boxing Day of course). If you want to know more about the Sephora Beauty Insider Program & how to score an invite to this sale, click here. Usually, I go in with a long list of items that I want to stock up on. This time around, I made a list of things I had either tried in sample size & loved or was dying to try. I made two trips to Sephora to purchase my goodies and I can’t wait to try all of them out in the next few weeks & months! Below is a list of the things I purchased and why I purchased them:

  1. Bumble & Bumble’s Non Stop Softness Set: I purchased this because the invisible hair oil has had rave reviews ever since its debut. It also won the coveted Allure’s best awards 2014, so of course I had to pick this set up. You get the full size hair oil with the corresponding deluxe size shampoo and conditioner (all for the price of the full-sized hair oil).
  2. Marc Jacobs’ The Sky-Liner Set: As everyone is already aware, I have quite an unhealthy obsession with anything Marc Jacobs. I absolutely love the MJ Beauty line and have been dying to try these gel eye liners out for a while now. These liners are supposedly amazing because of its incredible staying power. I swatched this set and fell in love with the range of colours, which are perfect for this holiday season!
  3. Urban Decay’s Vice 3 Palette: I own the first two Vice Palettes and I loved them, so it was only right for me to purchase the 3rd one! These colours are gorgeous and Urban Decay’s quality of shadows have never disappointed me. I love that this time around you get a cute make up bag which fits the Palette perfectly with it!
  4. Tarte’s Pin Up Girl Blush Palette (currently sold out at Sephora & it’s limited edition so not sure if it’ll be back): This blush palette has to be one of the best buys of the Holiday season. I had purchased the one last year and fell in love with the colours. So this year when I went in and saw a whole set of new colours, I had to get this one too! This palette is so cute, it’s like a mini clutch and it has two adorable hair clips that come with it (& you know you can’t go with that).
  5. Bumble & Bumble’s Make it Big Set: This was one thing that was on my list to get! I had tried the thickening hairspray earlier and I fell in love with it. This boxed set is great because you get the full size hairspray with the corresponding shampoo/conditioner (which I have never tried!) all for the price of the full-sized hairspray. I’m very impressed with B&B’s holiday lineup this year!
  6. Sephora Favourites Give Me More Lip Set: I instantly fell in love with this set when I saw it. It’s got a nice serving of your nudes, berries, reds and pinks all in one box! You get a few full sized products along with deluxe sized products (which is find with me because I get to try different brands before I commit to them).
  7. Urban Decay’s Little Perversions Set: This is probably my favourite purchase. Urban Decay’s perversion liners are the blackest liners I have ever tried. This set contains different versions of the liner as well as the mascara/mascara primer. I had to pick this up because everyone knows you can’t have enough black liners!
  8. Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Bachelorette: This is one of the best liquid lipsticks I have ever tried and initially I went in looking for the shade Lolita (which is supposedly sold out everywhere) but picked up Bachelorette instead. The staying power of these lipsticks are insanely amazing. It is food, drink and kiss proof.
  9. Urban Decay’s Naked Basics 1: This purchase was made on a whim. I have been battling with whether or not I should get this. The reviews are great but I still was unsure because I already own all 3 of the naked palettes. The fact that the shadows are matte all in one palette is what swayed me to get this!
