MTV Video Music Awards 2014: The Best Dressed Celebs at the VMAs

Who watched the VMAs last night? How amazing were the performances? Beyonce proved once again why she is Queen B. I also loved Sam Smith’s performance. The man can make you melt with his voice! Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora were phenomenal as well. Along with the awards and performances, the fashion was a big deal last night. I wasn’t as impressed with the red carpet fashion this year. There were a few expected hits and a lot of disappointments from celebs that are usually great on the red carpet. A lot of risk takers saw failure on the red carpet, making some look like a hot mess (seriously, Amber Rose…what were you thinking?). Below you will find a list of my favourite looks on the red carpet this year (in no particular order, of course!):

All hail Queen B! Beyonce looks incredible in this black peek-a-boo lace embellished long-sleeved gown. Her trademark hair and long dangly earrings complete this impeccable look. Beyonce looks “Flawless” and she knows it!

Adam Levine & Behati Prinsloo

These adorable newlyweds look amazing in colour coordinated outfits. Behati’s all black mini dress paired with the lovely black shoes compliments hubby, Adam’s, all black ensemble. I love that Adam was rocking a Lakers’ jersey under his leather jacket. There’s no doubt that these two look great together proving that sometimes keeping it simple works on the red carpet!

Nicki Minaj

This was a delightful risk-taking surprise from Nicki and one of my favourite ensembles she has ever worn. The snake print long-sleeved mini dress is perfectly paired with nude pumps (which elongate her toned legs well!). The hair and makeup were kept simple making the dress the focal point and Nicki looks fantastic!

Sam Smith

It’s no secret that I have a huge crush on this “Stay with me” crooner. The classic black suit with the dark brown shoes elevates this handsome man’s look. The hair was kept simple and the whole ensemble was perfect for the VMAs. Sam looks great!

Jennifer Lopez

Does JLo age at all? She looks stunning in this silver embellished shimmering cutout gown. The matching silver accessories and shoes don’t look tacky at all, making the whole ensemble look incredible. The smokey eyes were perfect with her signature hair.

Ed Sheeran

Ed Sheeran has to be one of the few men out there who can pull off the “I-didn’t-really-try” look on the red carpet. This casual laid back cutie always looks adorable on the red carpet. The polka dots dress shirt is perfectly paired with black trousers and black runners. Ed looks great as always!

Gwen Stefani

There’s a reason why she’s the ultimate fashionista. Gwen always takes fashion risks and she looks flawless every time! This hot pink and black ensemble looks incredible on Gwen. The accessories, hair and makeup are on point and look impeccable. I love everything about this look and Gwen looks great!

Darren Criss

How adorable does this Glee star look? I love the maroon jacket on top of an all black ensemble as a pop of colour without looking tacky. The curly hair and shades work great with this laid back look and this handsome singer looks hot & chic as usual!

Solange Knowles

Solange is one of my favourite celebs to watch on the red carpet! She always takes risks and rarely tries to wear what you would expect from her. In this shimmering H&M (YES, H &M!!!) suit and cropped pants, Solange looks incredible! The shoes are perfect! Her signature hair is perfect! Everything about this look is perfect!

The Carter Family

I just had to add this on the list. This moment has to be one of the most iconic moments in VMA history (yes, I’ve decided that). It is a rare occasion to see Jay-Z, Beyonce and Blue Ivy Carter in the same place, let alone on tv. This adorable moment was fantastic and all three of them were dressed to impress!

Happy Monday Dolls! x
