Review: MAC Cosmetics’ Next To Nothing Face Colour & Powder

DSC04290

If you’ve been following me on Instagram, then you already know that I’ve been using this particular foundation (it’s not marketed as a foundation…but I’m going to call it foundation lol) for the past couple weeks. You know what this means? I’ve got a new review for you, just like old times!

What is it?

It’s an ultra glowy foundation created for a no-makeup makeup look. These babies are meant to give you a radiant glow while perfecting your skin. They include special micro-light thingamajigs, which I’m sure if you go on their website you can read about…I’m here to tell you my experience with using these two products.

The liquid version of this “Next-to-nothing” face colour line is absolutely flawless. I love the way it feels on my skin. It’s balmy and smooth. I layered it with a mattifying primer and I still got a gorgeous dewey look. I’ve used these alone and I’ve paired it with other products to see what the effect would be…and it was the same: perfect. It looks like you have a filter on your face without looking caked at all. It didn’t crease nor did it become oily throughout the day. I have combination oily skin, so I was really worried about that but it was flawless (if you want to head to my Instagram, you can see the results yourself. I used NO editing tools or filters on that picture).

The powder version of it is great too! I can definitely see myself using this throughout the summer time because neither of the two (alone or combined together) felt heavy on my face. It’s lightweight and very easy to blend. In fact, it felt like it gelled with my skin! MAC recommends that you use these with synthetic brushes and/or sponges and that’s exactly what I did and the results were amazing! My face was radiant and it works really well with other makeup too (i.e. blush or contour).

If you’re looking for a no-makeup look face product…these are it. These picture well, they look gorgeous in person, they layer really well with other products and it makes you look like you have no make up on! I will mention that the shade range is limited. I didn’t swatch these here because ultimately with foundation it comes down to what your skin can gel with. And, I can definitely say: this is a product that will work with different skin types! It smells exactly like the Fix+. But overall, I really loved the way it looked on my skin! Also, the pressed powders are definitely more pigmented than the liquid form of this product, but both are buildable (which is perfect for the summer time).

Price:

  • Liquid: $38 (CDN)
  • Powder: $32 (CDN)

Pros:

  • Lightweight, buildable, looks pretty on skin!
  • Leaves you with the perfect radiant glow!
  • Very natural looking, doesn’t crease or cake

Cons:

  • The smell can be problematic for some
  • Not a lot of shades in the range, which is a surprise for MAC

Overall Rating: 9/10

7 Times Sonam Kapoor Slayed Her Style Game

Hello Dolls! Hope you guys are doing great! As always, I’m back with a blog post for ya today and since my previous Bollywood style post was such a hit (thank you x), I’ve decided to bring you another style icon from Bollywood. But before you go ahead and read that, make sure you’ve checked out my last blog post. Also, don’t forget to follow me on Instagram for daily updates (also, my other socials are listed on the top of the page).

As I mentioned, this post is going to be about one of Bollywood’s most stylish actresses ever. Actually, she might be one of the most stylish actors to grace the world (there I said it). I’m talking about none other than Sonam Kapoor! If you want to know more about her, you can check out her wiki page. If we were to find a definition of what “#StyleGoals” was, it would be Sonam. Not only does this fashionista dress well, I also love how her hair and makeup are always on fleek. Below, you will find 7 of my favourite outfits Sonam has rocked (and let me make it clear, it was VERY hard to pick these because I practically love EVERYTHING she wears).

8b5fdf01593dbcc3fcb2bd94275cbd20

A plain red lehenga on paper sounds bland, but only Sonam can make this outfit look super fashion forward. Also, the matching red lips is perfect.

15e4ebeaa52124172381cbb6e4ba2f83 So, I have a soft spot for anything blush toned but this outfit is literally what I would call the perfect blush dress. Also, the heels and her hair are to die for.

315db5247566b2c66924e63f867d075cThis is something I like to wear pretty much every other day and in different colours. This one’s my fav because Sonam makes even the simplest outfit looks SO chic. Me likey.

a63ec2fcf2d9ff52568e250758df4121This has been one of my favourite gowns I have ever seen on ANY red carpet. Everything about this is perfect and I want this so I can wear it every single day (don’t judge me).

d02473e33e4229faf3be989750abcc0aThe flared pant suit can be tricky for some to pull off but this fashion icon does it effortlessly. Everything from the cut to the hair to the pointy shoes is flawless!

ec353541936f1fec7ecf1d98d30b039eAHH. GIVE ME THIS OUTFIT. RIGHT. NOW. Seriously, I’m speechless at the level of perfection here.

c5fea0ad011f521ced7ca1743b7ca497I’m a sucker for classy cutouts in a dress and THIS look here is nothing short of elegant and classy. Sonam, how do you do it!? Can we swap style brains?

See you in the next post!

7 Times Katrina Kaif Slayed Her Style Game

Hello Dolls! Hope you’re having a lovely day! If you haven’t checked out my previous post then you can do so by clicking right here! Okay, so I just realized that I haven’t made a Bollywood post in years (OMG, I’m slacking). So I figured with 2017 in full swing, I’ll start off my first Bollywood post of this year by talking about how obsessed I am with Katrina Kaif’s style. If you don’t know who she is, then you can check out her wiki page. She’s one of the most talked about celebrity in Bollywood because of the different movie roles she chooses and her impeccable style sense. Below you will find 7 of my favourite looks Kat’s been rocking (which you can re-create too).

9d1cbaef54c7d96cdd28d6f83564418b

Seriously, only Kat can make an all black basic outfit look mysteriously gorgeous. This is exactly how one rocks casual chic.

41de1a5c2cfdc96417c51c4aac0af431

I added this look here mainly because I have rocked something similar (you can check that out here). I really love the boho chicness of this outfit.

74f37237d889dfde42710c67e7cebf94

Jeans, Louis V and a coloured leather jacket together can only create the most stylish outfit. Seriously, this is what travel style is all about.

82a8f0626351ffe33f52388dbac10851

I love the watercolour printed mini dress Katrina is rocking here. The red strappy heels really enhances this look and I want to insert all the heart emojis here.

260a0404ee310ecde17acaeb61accbdc

Something about the dressiness and the casualness of this outfit makes my heart skip a beat. I love the colour combos!

10826583dae7792dfe772faa1355b3e3

Blush toned dresses are my weaknesses. Seriously, every single person needs to own at least one piece of blush toned outfit. Also, peep the flat sandals. So simple and elegant.

ab03299c4b14dd9dff3d2f118c57ef6d

Kat looks gorgeous here. The colour combination of her shoes and dress are perfect. Also, that hair….so pretty!

Blake Lively

blake-lively-golden-globes-2017

…Because she’s totally worth being on the top of my best dressed list. Seriously, didn’t she like just have a baby? Love the emerald cuff with the all black gown. The hint of metallic sparkle is SO hot just like her hubby.

Emma Stone

74th Annual Golden Globe Awards, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 08 Jan 2017

Her dress has stars! Like come on. That alone makes this dress stunning. I can’t find a single thing wrong with this outfit. It’s making me just LaLa all around my room (yeah, I know that’s a terrible)…but how gorgeous does she look. This is an Easy A+ outfit (kay I’ll stop).

Brie Larson

74th Annual Golden Globe Awards, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 08 Jan 2017

Brie looks incredible in this gorgeous red dress. I love the embellishments woven in. My favourite part of this look is the fact that she is rocking a matching lip and breaking all kinds of beauty rules in doing so…and I love it.

Kristen Bell

fd50b7db8146c4d4a1822222e8064cc4

Kristen Bell looks absolutely gorgeous in this sparkly gown. It’s making me want to stare at my non sparkly outfits and sing let it go over and over again (lol). But seriously, the plunging neckline looks classy, not trashy, and that’s why this outfit works!

Busy Phillipps

sub-buzz-31095-1483921224-10

OMG REMEMBER HER FROM DAWSON’S CREEK? How GORG is this dress? I actually want to jump into this picture and steal this so that I can wear it everyday! I love the minimalistic embroidered flowers. AND that purse…purrrfecto!

Michelle Williams

sub-buzz-6224-1483920306-5

On keeping with the Dawson’s Creek theme, Michelle Williams hit it out of the park with this look. She basically has hit all the trendy looks in one outfit and I can’t be any happier. The minimal makeup and the sleeked pixie hair is the perfect bow to her outfit!

Priyanka Chopra

sub-buzz-3526-1483919723-7

Let us take a moment and appreciate the fact that Priyanka Chopra is a fashion icon in the making. Everything about this outfit is perfect from the hair to the makeup and she’s making EVERY single brown girl scream, ain’t nobody like a desi girl 😛

Janelle Monae

sub-buzz-1660-1483921164-5

OMG. OMG. OMG. I love this. Janelle just proves more and more why pushing the boundaries in fashion will work out and why taking risks are always worth it. I love everything here from the polka dots to the organza to the sequins. All kinds of glam.

Natalie Portman

sub-buzz-32434-1483919864-6

Jackie O would be SO proud of this elegant look Natalie is sporting. The colour, the makeup, the hair and everything else is just spectacularly chic. Also, only Natalie Portman can make maternity dressing looks this perfectly glamourous.

Lily Collins

sub-buzz-32593-1483919174-1

This is actually what a Disney Princess looks like in real life. No joke. The blush gown embellished with printed flowers is the prettiest thing I’ve seen on a red carpet. I love that she kept the princess vibe with her hair and makeup. All kinds of gorgeous right here.

See ya in the next post!

Review: Origins Original Skin Retexturizing Rose Clay Mask

Hello Dolls! If you haven’t read my previous blog post, then you can do so right here! As always, follow me on all my socials by searching “Daff Diaries” or click the links on the right hand side of this blog page.

img_4615

Okay, face masks were and still are the IT thing. Everywhere I went, everyone would be asking me about face masks or telling me about the face masks they’ve tried. Of course, in true Daff Diaries manner, I made a trip to my local Sephora to pick up a few to see what the rage was all about…and now I’ve got a review for you!

First Impressions

IMG_4616.JPG

When the worker at Sephora pointed me towards their face masks, I knew that there was one brand that I can always trust…and that’s Origins (remember how obsessed I was with THIS). Well, of course I had to go ahead and see what Origins had to offer. They had plenty but this was the one I gravitated towards the most. I have combination oily skin that’s also sensitive; so all I really wanted my face mask to do was not strip my face of moisture but still clean everything out. Also, I wanted that oh-so-glowy-face. This particular one made claims that it could do it all, including minimizing my pores (YES!). As I opened the bottle to smell it, I was mesmerized. It smells amazing. It’s got rose clay, which is great because clay is supposed to attract the dirt out of your skin. It’s also got Canadian Willow herb (which I’m assuming smells amazing because this product smells great) along with jojoba beads to exfoliate your skin (you can read more on their website). This product’s first impression for me was great and I couldn’t wait to go and try it!

Product Application & Result

I absolutely love the texture of this face mask. Even though it’s got jojoba beads to exfoliate, the formula/texture isn’t grainy at all. In fact, it’s smooth and very simple to apply on your face. I applied a thin layer and waited the 10 minutes the product recommends for it dry. It dried really fast and I could feel my face already tightening. Washing this product off was super easy. All you need is your fingers to gently massage the face mask off and warm water. Nothing else. So easy! The results were amazing. My first application of this product left me with super smooth, glowy and radiant skin! Although my pores didn’t minimize completely at first application, by the third application (I use this once a week), I could see my pores begin to vanish. I don’t think I’ve gotten this many compliments on my skin ever! Makeup application was easy (the next day) and my face looked healthier than ever!

Product Application Rating: 10/10

Price, availability and accessibility

As mentioned, I purchased mine at Sephora for $32 (CDN) and it’s worth EVERY single penny!!

Final Verdict

This is a perfect face mask for anyone looking to try a face mask! Every claim made by this product is true! Not only was I left with the best skin of my life, it didn’t seem to irritate my super sensitive combination oily skin (SCORE)!

Overall Rating: 10/10

See you in the next post!

kisses,

On Organizing & Planning

Hi dolls! If you haven’t read my previous post, then make sure you do right here. With 2016 coming to a close, I wanted to share with you how I organize my agenda/planner and what you can do to help yourself get more organized in 2017 (do I sense a resolution…). If you want to read a little bit about my favourite part about organizing, then you can do that right here.

fullsizeoutput_12

You’ll always see me with my agenda no matter what (well unless I’m going to a party or something). Finding the perfect agenda for you might depend on various different things. When you’re looking for an agenda or planner, look for things that will work for you and your life. Here are some things I look for when I’m purchasing one:

fullsizeoutput_15

  1. I love having a visual layout of the month, similar to a calendar. So it’s extremely important for me to have a 12 month planner.
  2. Along with having the visual layout of the month, I prefer to have a week by week layout. Here, I list important tasks/meetings/etc. This way I know right away what I’m doing.
  3. I love when they include quotes, anecdotes, etc. I find that they’re an instant pick-me-up when you’re stressed about putting things into you planner. The one pictured here, which I’ll be using for 2017, can be purchased at Kate Spade. It has a lovely quote at the beginning of each month telling you what that particular should be about (motivation feels).
  4. Having a pretty agenda is great but you what you need is an agenda that’s going to look different from any of your other notebooks. Polka dots, bright colours, stripes and sparkles are great choices!
  5. Size is important. Personally, I don’t like anything bigger than the one pictured here. I just find that it’s easy to grab and pile on with your other stuff. Plus it fits perfectly in your purse or work bag or even you car dash.

fullsizeoutput_16

Now that I’ve talked a little about what I use to organize, let me tell you about HOW I actually do it. Ready? It’s simple. Make sure you have a lot of coloured pens handy! I like to fill out my weekly planner/agenda/organizer on a Sunday night before I get ready for bed. This way I’m aware of all the tasks, meetings, lunches, birthdays, etc that I can expect in the upcoming week. Plus, I get a clear vision of what I must get done before the next Sunday.

  1. Important tasks like work, important dates, & holidays MUST be written in your weekly/monthly agenda. I love to colour code everything in my agenda, just so that there’s a quick way to distinguish things written down. I use a bright pink ballpoint pen to write these.
  2. Pay Day should be written in your agenda: I mean you need to know when you can go on your shopping spree er…pay your credit cards (guilty of it all). I like to put these important dates in red because clearly I’m paranoid I’ll miss them or something.
  3. Lunches, Dinners, birthdays are necessary if you’re forgetful: I don’t always put these in my agenda because I rely on my handy dandy smartphone but if you tend to forget these things, add them there too!
  4. I use a pencil to write things that are subject to change. This can pretty much apply to anything and everything that isn’t set in stone in your schedule.
  5. Tasks which need to be completed by that day need to be put in your agenda too. This is a mere blueprint for what you want to do for that day. Life adds on different things all the time, but the things you write down are what you should finish.
  6. On the Sunday, look at the previous week and see tasks which were not complete. Add those to the following Monday, as they’re probably important tasks you should finish ASAP.

fullsizeoutput_17

If you follow these tips/tricks or even modify them to make them your own, I guarantee that you will become more organized. You will stop forgetting about tasks that should be completed or your significant other’s birthday (kay, don’t ever do that). So now that you’ve written and colour coded your agenda…what’s next you might ask? WELL. Let me paint a picture for you. You don’t want to just talk to talk right? YOU NEED TO FOLLOW THROUGH! Start crossing off those things in your agenda as you accomplish them! Believe in yourself and get yourself organized!

Hope this little post gave you some insight into how I organize my agenda!

As always, see you in the next post!

kisses,

S
