Review: Origins Original Skin Retexturizing Rose Clay Mask

Hello Dolls! If you haven’t read my previous blog post, then you can do so right here! As always, follow me on all my socials by searching “Daff Diaries” or click the links on the right hand side of this blog page.

Okay, face masks were and still are the IT thing. Everywhere I went, everyone would be asking me about face masks or telling me about the face masks they’ve tried. Of course, in true Daff Diaries manner, I made a trip to my local Sephora to pick up a few to see what the rage was all about…and now I’ve got a review for you!

First Impressions

When the worker at Sephora pointed me towards their face masks, I knew that there was one brand that I can always trust…and that’s Origins (remember how obsessed I was with THIS). Well, of course I had to go ahead and see what Origins had to offer. They had plenty but this was the one I gravitated towards the most. I have combination oily skin that’s also sensitive; so all I really wanted my face mask to do was not strip my face of moisture but still clean everything out. Also, I wanted that oh-so-glowy-face. This particular one made claims that it could do it all, including minimizing my pores (YES!). As I opened the bottle to smell it, I was mesmerized. It smells amazing. It’s got rose clay, which is great because clay is supposed to attract the dirt out of your skin. It’s also got Canadian Willow herb (which I’m assuming smells amazing because this product smells great) along with jojoba beads to exfoliate your skin (you can read more on their website). This product’s first impression for me was great and I couldn’t wait to go and try it!

Product Application & Result

I absolutely love the texture of this face mask. Even though it’s got jojoba beads to exfoliate, the formula/texture isn’t grainy at all. In fact, it’s smooth and very simple to apply on your face. I applied a thin layer and waited the 10 minutes the product recommends for it dry. It dried really fast and I could feel my face already tightening. Washing this product off was super easy. All you need is your fingers to gently massage the face mask off and warm water. Nothing else. So easy! The results were amazing. My first application of this product left me with super smooth, glowy and radiant skin! Although my pores didn’t minimize completely at first application, by the third application (I use this once a week), I could see my pores begin to vanish. I don’t think I’ve gotten this many compliments on my skin ever! Makeup application was easy (the next day) and my face looked healthier than ever!

Product Application Rating: 10/10

Price, availability and accessibility

As mentioned, I purchased mine at Sephora for $32 (CDN) and it’s worth EVERY single penny!!

Final Verdict

This is a perfect face mask for anyone looking to try a face mask! Every claim made by this product is true! Not only was I left with the best skin of my life, it didn’t seem to irritate my super sensitive combination oily skin (SCORE)!

Overall Rating: 10/10

Review: Benefit Cosmetics’ Benetint

Benefit has to be one of the most fun and cool make up lines out there. I love everything about this cosmetics brand! Everything from their packaging to their ace-quality products are fantastic. As I was ogling through the product list online years ago, I came across this cult favourite item and decided that I must try it! Benefit Cosmetics’ Benetint is a rose-tinted lip and cheek stain. This not only smells like roses (seriously who doesn’t love that?) but it leaves a very noticeable yet subtle tint on your lips and cheeks. The packaging of this is interesting. As you can see below, it’s like a nail polish bottle (this is a sample size I got in a kit). Initially, I was very confused as how to use this, but once I did a little youtubing I was able to figure it out (more about that below). Anyways, this stain is described as a natural, kiss-proof, see-through colour for lips and cheeks that lasts for hours. It is also perfect for all complexions and “it’s innocent yet provocative”. With a tag line like that, I had to try this out and make sure it lived up to every single claim. Did it? 100000 percent it did. This literally did not come off until I used my heavy-duty makeup remover. The flush on my cheeks were so natural especially since the colour looks so intense in the bottle! On my lips it was great because the stain literally lasted all day! At $36 (CDN), this is worth every single dollar especially if you love stains. This was smudge proof and sheer enough that you can actually build the colour to your desire! You can purchase this at Sephora and any place which sells Benefit Cosmetic’s product!

Happy Shopping Dolls! x

Tips/Tricks to use this product: I use this product in a few ways. When I use it on my lips, I usually layer it on top of a lip balm and then apply the lip stain with the brush onto my lips. I also love using this under a red lipstick for nights out, to ensure that the red doesn’t fade! For my cheeks, I use this product on one cheek at a time because it does dry pretty quickly. With the brush, I dot onto the apples of my cheeks and then I blend with my fingers moving upwards/sideways towards my temples (this makes my flush look as natural as it can!).

  • Smudge proof; doesn’t budge until you use make up remover.
  • Doesn’t dry out your skin.
  • The colour is sheer, so you can build intensity.
  • Smells like roses.
  • Lasted literally for the whole day.

  • Price (not a huge issue for me but could be a problem for others).
  • Make sure to apply to one cheek at a time to avoid streaks (practice makes perfect).
  • Takes a few tries before you can master using this, especially as a cheek product (which again once you get a hang off, it’s easy).

Rating: 9.5/10 (I love this product because it does everything it claims to do without disappointing you at all. This is one of the best lip and cheek stains I have tried!)
