Review: Laneige Water Sleeping Mask

DSC02718

Since we are transitioning between winter and spring (although, it feels more like winter here in Toronto), I figured I should share with you one of my favourite skin care products that I’m completely obsessed with. Before coming across Laneige’s Water Sleeping Mask, I honestly was having a little bit of an issue with my skin (I know such first world problems). I have combination oily skin, so I would notice that whenever the seasons would be transitioning, my skin would start acting wonkydonky (aka dry peeling patches). I never quite was able to find a long-term solution to it, until this product. Everything else I used would temporarily fix or rather moisturize my skin.

This is a gel based water sleeping mask that is meant to rejuvenate and hydrate your skin while you sleep (huzzah for this). Initially, I hadn’t tried a sleeping mask prior to this but I can safely say that I haven’t gone back since using this.

What I love about this product is how simple and easy it is to use. I slather this lightly on my face before bed (once a week) and I wake up with the softest skin I have ever had! It makes my skin extremely radiant and super moisturized. I found that ever since I incorporated this into my skin care routine, I’ve NEVER had those flaky skin issues between seasons changing. In fact, my skin’s elasticity has improved even more. This is perfect for all skin types and I love that this works while you sleep. It literally is every lazy girl’s (or boys) dream come true! It’s got a tiny bit of fragrance to it, but nothing that overpowers. The texture of the formula is AMAZING! Since it is a gel based mask, the formula is super light and doesn’t feel heavy when you apply it. In fact, it feels like you’re using a normal moisturizer. I also found that using this once a week made my skin a lot smoother in the long run. It never has irritated my skin nor has it caused any breakouts, which is a huge plus. I got mine at Sephora for $30 (CDN). Honestly, I hadn’t heard of this brand until I got a sample from Sephora and like I’ve already said, this really was a game changer for my skin in the long run. The size of the product is great because you really don’t need to use a lot of it. I definitely think this is worth every little bit, especially if you’re looking for a sleeping mask that give you results!

Pros:

  • Smells great
  • Moisturizes while you sleep
  • You wake up with glowy, radiant skin
  • Keeps skin super soft

Cons:

  • None

Review: Tarte’s SmolderEyes Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner in Gunmetal

IMG_3422IMG_3423

Eyeliners are a staple in any makeup lover’s kit. They come in different sizes, colours, finishes and textures these days. Being a liner addict, I’m always trying out different eyeliners on a week to week basis. Tarte is one of my favourite makeup brands ever. In fact, this brand was the first ever brand I had purchased my first ever makeup from. Tarte’s SmolderEyes Amazonian Clay Waterproof liners are versatile. You can use them as liners, as shadows, and/or a base. They are the jumbo size pencils that have the liner on one side and a smudger on the other side. It’s created with Amazonian clay, which works to nourish your lids and reduce any surface oil. According to Tarte, these liners are super waterproof, pigment packed and easy to use. The shade Gunmetal is a brownish grey with sheen. This liner is also vegan.

My Verdict?

This has to be one of Tarte’s greatest creations. I absolutely love this liner to pieces. Firstly, it’s so versatile. This one liner can do so much. You can use it as a normal eyeliner to line your lower and upper lash line. You can use it as a base to make other eye shadow colours pop. You can use it to create the ultimate smoky/sultry eye look by using the smudger end of the liner to soften the lines you’ve created. Secondly, the longevity of this product wear is insane! It did not budge, move or even smudge until I used makeup remover to remove it. It lasted pretty much all night long. It’s waterproof, which is the main thing I look for in an eyeliner. Thirdly, the formula and texture of this product is phenomenal. The texture is buttery smooth but still firm enough to get a good strong line on your eyes. You can soften the lines easily without it looking messy. The formula is so great that the liner just glides on your lids. The inclusion of Amazonian clay in its ingredients is a plus point. Every claim made is true. My eyelids didn’t feel dry or oily. Lastly, I love this colour. It’s the perfect brownish gunmetal colour. It looks great by itself and paired with other colours. This particular colour gives you the perfect smoldering eyes. All in all, this is a fantastic product that I think everyone should own and I can’t wait to purchase some of the other colours in this range. At $26 (CDN), it is a hefty price but think of it as an investment. You can purchase this at any Tarte retailer or online!

What’s In My Purse?!

IMG_1771

Happy Thursday Dolls! Inspired by various other bloggers and vloggers, I’ve decided to give you a peak into what I carry in my purse! I like to change-up my purses at least once every week if not two weeks (yes yes, life of a purse addict..), so every purse seems to have different sets of things. This current crossbody, I’ve been carrying for the longest time because it’s adorable and reliable (if you don’t know my love for crossbodies, click here to find out). The size is perfect for everyday use and travel. Well without further adieu…here’s what’s in my purse right now:

Purse: Crossbody by Jessica Simpson (I love this brand of purses because of its durability, quality & price. I find this colour goes with almost every outfit so I don’t have to fuss about matching. Plus, I love that it has hidden pockets/zippers for my little trinkets/change).

Cell Phone/USB connector: iPhone 5s in a Kate Spade Case (like everyone in the world, my cell phone is pretty much my planner. It’s got everything I need all in one device! I carry a USB connector, in case I need to charge my phone or I have to connect it to my car)

Wallet by Kate Spade & Sunglasses by Miu Miu

iPod/Headphones: 3rd generation iPod touch (This holds all my music from when I first purchased this till now so it kind of has to be with me all the time…you never know when you need to listen to music!)

Rosebud Salve Lip Balm: I can’t live without this stuff (click here to find out why!)

IMG_1767IMG_1766

Two little notebooks: One is for writing down any ideas I have for this blog, anything that inspires me, or anything I like in a store, etc.. The other one is an autograph book, in case I run into a celebrity (yes it has happened in the past, so I like to be prepared!)

Lip Tint: Tarte Lip surgence in Perky (I’m currently obsessed with pink lips. This one is a favourite because it’s a lip tint so it’s perfect for daily wear and it looks natural)

Urban Decay’s De-slick Powder: This is a current favourite that I’m carrying around to blot excess oil on my face plus it’s got a pretty decent sized mirror! (Here’s my review on this product).

Hand Lotion/Rollerball: Ralph Lauren Romance (this is my current fragrance obsession. It’s such an adorable and light scent that is perfect for the summer time!)

The usuals: Bottled Water, Pen, Hair tie, Gum, Granola Bar, hand sanitizer (from bath and body works), car/house keys, antibacterial wipe
