Makeup Diaries: Bollywood’s Best Makeup Moments

Whenever I am in doubt of what makeup look to create for a night out, I always rely on celebrities to give me some makeup inspiration. Most of the time, I can get away with recreating each look (although, I like to add my unique twist to some of them). Since this blog has gone Bollywood for the week, I thought why not share with you some of my favourite makeup moments courtesy of Bollywood’s leading ladies! Below you will find a few of my favourite looks that some of my favourite Bollywood actresses have rocked:

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

This is one of my favourite makeup looks ever! Aishwarya’s makeup here is completely flawless! In order to pull off a bold red lip, you have to be able to balance out the makeup everywhere else by keeping things neutral. Ash’s defined neutral eyes and bold brows aren’t overdone. A flawless contoured face is perfect with a red lip. This ex-Miss World’s makeup looks stunning!

Priyanka Chopra

PC’s makeup is always impeccable. In fact, I’ve met her before and even in person her makeup is beautiful and never overdone. This is one of my favourite looks to rock. The blush toned lips are gorgeous and go with pretty much any sort of eye makeup. Priyanka keeps her eyes dark and defined. Priyanka’s overall makeup looks is gorgeous, as always!

Anushka Sharma

This is one of the prettiest ways of wearing barely there makeup. It’s hard for a lot of people to pull of this style of makeup off but Anushka does it perfectly well! Anushka pairs a light pink lip with peach blush on her cheeks. This is the best way to balance a natural makeup look. She lightly defines her eyes, fills in her eyebrows and wear a bit of mascara for this polished look.

Sonam Kapoor

This glamourista always hits it out of the park with her makeup. I’ve rarely ever not liked anything she dons! Her look here is perfect! The bright pink bold lip is super trendy! She pairs this with a shimmery/satiny eye makeup look, which isn’t overbearing at all. Filled in eyebrows and a light dusting of blush on the apples of the cheeks finish this pretty look!

Deepika Padukone

Deepika always plays it safe with her makeup but her vampy look here was a risk well taken. This trendy look is really hard to pull off because the look can come off too strong for some. Deepika’s ox blood coloured lips are paired with lightly defined eyes, which is how you want to wear this trend. Filled in eyebrows and flawless skin finish this gorgeous look!

Sonakshi Sinha

Everyone loves a good smoky eye and Sonakshi is killing this look! This classic smoky eye she’s rocking has a hint of shimmer/glitter making this perfect for a night out and to make her eye colour pop out! Nude lips, sculpted cheeks and flawless skin is the right way to finish this amazing look! (Psst, check back on this blog later to see how you can recreate this look Sonakshi is rocking!)

The IIFAs: Best dressed at the International Indian Film Academy Awards

The International Indian Film Academy Awards is an awards show that takes place every year to honour the top films and their actors of the past year. Although, I wouldn’t say it’s equivalent to the Oscars, it is pretty relevant in the Bollywood world. This is because it’s like a travelling awards show, it’s held in a different country across the world every year. In fact, I was lucky enough to attend this show in 2011 when it was taking place in Toronto. It was quite an awesome experience as I was able to see/meet a lot of stars in the span of a few hours. It is really something I can cross off my bucket-list now! This awards show took place this weekend in Tampa, Florida and it was quite the riot! Fans were flocking to see all the stars and the stars were flocking to take selfies (times have changed!). I love this award show because it lets the celebrities connect back with the fans and I think it’s a fun experience for both parties. There are 3 days of events: Day 1: Fashion based event, Day 2: Technical Awards, and Day 3: The actual Awards Show. With so many days, the fashion trends are fun to watch and here are my favourites from the weekend (in no particular order):

Deepika Padukone

She dressed to impress every time she hit the ‘green’ carpet this weekend. Both her dresses were fantastic and she looked absolutely stunning. The hair, the makeup and the accessories were on point. Kudos to her stylist!

Sidharth Malhotra

How handsome is he? He was definitely one of the best dressed this weekend. I loved that he wore both a suit and a traditional Indian men’s wear, both of which looked amazing on him!

Priyanka Chopra

This girl never disappoints. Always dressed to impress, she looked gorgeous in this blush toned dress. Her swept back hair, makeup and minimal accessories compliments the dress well! Great job PC!

Aditya Roy Kapur

If you’ve read the Bollywood portion of my blog, then you already know how much I adore this man. He was one of the best dressed men of the night. The black suit, tie and shoes were perfect. Also, it doesn’t hurt that he has a killer smile to go with that handsome face.

Dia Mirza

Dia Mirza has always been one of my favourite dressed celebs. She looks beautiful in this pleated gown. I love the choice of bold colour. Her hair and make up are also on point. Her accessories compliment her dress well!

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan

How amazing did Saifeena look (yes they have a Brangelina name). Saif looks dashing in his attire. I love his choice of a bright red pocket square! Kareena looks stunning. The deep neck doesn’t look trashy on her and her hair/makeup are on point! They’re complimenting each other well!

Riteish Deshmukh

Riteish looked great in this attire. I love that he went with a bow tie rather than a normal tie. The slick back hair works perfectly with this look. His choice of black/white combo was a fantastic one! He looks super dashing!

Bipasha Basu

How gorgeous does she look? The hair and the makeup was perfect for this sequins dress. She looks stunning. The minimal accessories was a smart choice too. This has to be one of my favourite outfits Bips has ever worn!

Best Dressed Celebrities: Bollywood Edition

My obsession with Bollywood is ridiculous. I have grown up watching these movies, singing the songs, dancing to the music, following their exciting gossip stories and emulating their fashion choices. It was only right that I incorporate it in my blog! Here are 10 of my favourite best dressed celebrities in Bollywood (in no particular order).

Sonam Kapoor: This girl is the reigning fashionista of Bollywood. You will see her rocking runway looks from both the Western and Indian world. She makes bold outfit choices that make her stand out. She knows how to rock any given look! (My favourite movie of hers? Aisha. Each outfit she wears in the movie deserves to be in any one’s closet.)

Shah Rukh Khan: He is the King of Bollywood. His dreamy looks makes him one of the best dressed men in Bollywood (not to mention he smells pretty good…yes I’ve met him and it was magical). Whenever SRK rocks a suit, the world stops and stares. (My favourite movie of his? Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. Who doesn’t want a Raj in their life?)

Deepika Padukone: She’s the reigning princess of Bollywood. Her sense of style is always carried out with equal amounts of grace and elegance. Her classic fashion choices makes her one of the best dressed actresses in Bollywood. (My favourite movie of hers? Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani. Those Manish Malhotra sarees she wore are to die for!)

Aditya Roy Kapur: He is the best thing to happen to Bollywood right now (and my current crush). This handsome man knows how to dress without trying too hard. His effortless chic and laid back style makes him one of the best dressed men out there. (My favourite movie of his? All of them. Mark my words, he is a superstar in the making.) 

Priyanka Chopra: This Bollywood superstar has a flare for fashion and is the new GUESS girl. The fact that she was Miss World probably plays a huge part in the way she dresses. Everything from her hair to her shoes and in between are always on point, trust me I’ve met her in person. (My favourite movie of hers? Dostana. So very fun Miami chic!)

Arjun Kapoor: He is the underdog of Bollywood. He is always dressed to impress, which makes all the ladies swoon (including me..duh!). His sense of style paired up with his dreamy looks makes him one of the best dressed celebs in Bollywood. (My favourite movie of his? Ishaqzaade. Seriously, who doesn’t want to date a bad boy?)

Shilpa Shetty: She can rock the traditional Indian look perfectly in Bollywood. She has been in Bollywood forever and has never aged! Her style has evolved the most and this makes her every Indian designer’s muse. She always dresses elegantly whether she’s rocking a gown or a saree. (My favourite movie of hers? Phir Milenge. She was simply amazing!)

Ranbir Kapoor: He is the reigning prince of Bollywood right now. He’s hot, he’s nice, and he dresses exceptionally well. With that combination, you can’t really go wrong and no wonder he makes all the best dressed lists! His red carpet looks are as amazing as his non-red carpet looks. (My favourite movie of his? Wake Up Sid. He was phenomenal!)

Shraddha Kapoor: She is one of the most underrated actresses of Bollywood. Her style is relatable and attainable, which makes her one of the best dressed celebs out there. She looks stunning in every outfit she wears. Also, she always keeps her makeup and hair classy! (My favourite movie of hers? All of them. Bollywood needs to watch out for her!)

Abhay Deol: He’s one of Bollywood’s best actors. He knows how to dress well. His “boy next door” look makes him one of the best dressed celeb in Bollywood. He looks good in anything and everything, which is amazing because he does take some interesting risks now and then. (My favourite movie of his? All of them. He is one of the best out there!)

PS: Dear Aditya Roy Kapur and Arjun Kapoor, If you guys are ever in Toronto..we should SO hang out 😉 !
