Review: Laneige Glowy Makeup Serum

I’ve spent most of the past couple years looking for a primer that does everything I want as a makeup base. And I’ll be honest, I’ve had a hard time finding one that does everything I want and often found myself mixing primers to get my desired base. Then I came across this product…and this has truly been a game changer for me.

Laneige

Now if you’ve followed me on Instagram, you already know how much I love this brand. The first ever product I bought from this brand was their water sleeping mask and that was purely because I saw a YouTuber rave about it. It was literally the best sleeping mask I have ever used. However, this brand now has become ever so popular, thanks to Tiktok, because of their lip sleeping mask (a highly recommended product from me, especially the vanilla scent).

Last year, when we were alllll in quarantine lockdown, I got bored and started searching through Laneige’s other products. I bought this product on a whim. I didn’t read anything other than its claims, which is usually not something I do. I like to read other reviews but I guess it looked so promising that I didn’t even bother. I was hopeful because it makes logical sense to me that a skincare company would make a face primer that does wonders for the skin while making your makeup look flawless….right?

The Glowy Makeup Serum

The Packaging

The packaging is super cute and small. It has a dropper and the bottle is pink (aesthetically pleasing on the counter). It’s 30 mL and it’s not bulky in size at all.

The Claims

  • Hydrating
  • Radiant Finish
  • Suitable for all skin types
  • Long wearing
  • Lightweight
  • Locks in moisture while maintaining oil levels
  • Can be used without makeup to give a hydrated glow

The Ingredients

  • Diamond Mineral Powder: create a translucent glow & smooth skin’s appearance
  • Light Fit Prep Technology: helps makeup last long
  • Ceramide Hydration Gel: delivers & locks in moisture for an oil-water balance
  • No parabĂ©ns & phthalates

Verdict

Look at the glow! Look at how it blurred the lines!

All I have to say is look at how the fine lines on my hand essentially disappeared after putting this primer on it. It’s smooth, it’s glowy and it’s super lightweight. What I really love about this product is the fact that it’s a hybrid product: a serum that essentially is a skincare product and a makeup primer that keeps your makeup in place. And trust me, your makeup does not budge with this product on. Another thing I absolutely adore about this face primer/serum is the fact that it smooths my skin’s texture completely. It allows for my foundation to literally glide and blend effortlessly…which is exactly what I want from a face primer. It also feels super moisturizing without leaving an oily feeling. And did I mention it gives you such a radiant and natural glow? I have combination oily skin so I don’t always like a glowy look because well it looks a little oily for me. However, this product does not look like that. It’s so natural and almost every time I’ve worn it on its own, I’ve gotten complimented on my skin! This is literally one of the best things I’ve ever put on my face! In terms of price point, it is a little expensive but think of it as an investment for your skin. I have extremely sensitive skin and this did not break me out or cause any irritations. I’ve also used this with various different foundations and they’ve all looked flawless once applied! The texture of the product is literally like a serum, super gel like and it absorbs onto the skin quickly. It does not leave a residue, which is fantastic. Honestly, I have nothing bad to say about this! This one product does everything I want and I love that I don’t have to mix different primers to get a glowy, blurred and flawless look!

10000/10: Honestly, everyone needs to try this product!

You can purchase this at Sephora for $43 (CDN).

Review: Fenty Beauty Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint

Hello everyone! Hope you’re having a lovely day wherever you are reading from. Today, I’m going to be reviewing Fenty Beauty’s Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint. Y’all know when Ms. RiRi puts a new product out it usually sells out pretty quickly and that was definitely the case with these babies (I mean if you go on Sephora’s website right now, you’ll be lucky to find one or two shades because everything is sold out).

When I saw these babies on Rihanna’s instagram account, I knew I needed it in my life. A super lightweight tinted moisturizer? Sign me up. Given the ongoing pandemic, I realized that masking might be around for a while….and for me? I double mask. So keeping this in mind, I knew I needed a foundation or base that was going to be long lasting and light on my skin. Cue Eaze Drops.

I picked up the shade 11. Now, shade matching is going to be SUPER easy if you already own one of Fenty Beauty’s Foundation products. They have a shade matching matrix that helps you pick the right shade based on FB’s other foundations. Also, I noticed that since this product is super lightweight, the shade range also covers a broader range. I.E. one shade of Eaze Drops can cover at least 3 shades of Fenty Beauty’s ProFilter foundation. It’s what they call their “flexible skin” tint. If you don’t own any of FB’s other foundations (first of all, why not?), then colour matching is still going to be easy.

Fenty Beauty describes this product as a lightweight, buildable light-to-medium coverage skin tint. It’s literally a blurring filter for your face! The coverage is buildable, at least in my opinion. However, this product is mainly for those going for the “no makeup” makeup look. FB also claims that this product is “humidity, sweat, and transfer resistant”. What I really like is the size of this product. It’s a squeeze bottle so it’s super simple to you and you really don’t need that much for a blurred effect.

I am in love. Honestly, I am not the biggest fan of skin tints because sometimes it just looks super odd on my skin. It’s also either to ashy or tends to get patchy on my combination oily skin. BUT, this is absolutely not the case with the Fenty Beauty Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint. As the name suggests–it literally blurred out any imperfections or discolouration on my face! Like it was to the point where I just stared into the mirror because I was confused at how this product did that! What I love about this skin tint is how easily it evens out my complexion! You don’t need a lot of this product to cover your whole face! The texture of the liquid was smooth and super easy to blend on my skin. It gives you a natural finish which is perfect for the Summer time (or whenever you don’t feel like wearing much makeup). Another thing I really liked about this skin tint is how well it can layer with other face products. If you want to wear this on its own, you can. If you want to layer this on a primer, go for it! Because no matter what your put on top or under it, it still remains super lightweight! But, is it mask proof, you ask? YES. Especially, if you pair it with a good setting spray. I found that this did not get patchy on my skin at all! And my makeup still looked fresh and smooth as it did 12 hours later!

How do I use this? I layer this over a primer (usually Urban Decay’s All Nighter). Then, I use one layer of the Eaze Drops, I blend and buff into my skin. After that, I set it with translucent powder (Laura Mercier or FB’s setting powder). And I finish off with Benefit’s Porefessional Setting spray.

Should you get this product? YES. 100000%

Rating: 10/10 (you can get yours at Sephora or Fenty Beauty for $39).

Review: Dior Lip Glow Oil in Cherry

Hope everyone is having an awesome day or night! Today’s blog post is all about Dior’s social media viral lip oil! If you’ve been in Tiktok, you have for sure stumbled upon at least one video talking about how wonderful/amazing this product is….so of course, I had to try this for myself to find out why everyone is hyping up a lip oil!

First of all, when I saw this product, I could not for the life of me understand the difference between a traditional lip gloss and a lip oil. After some quick google searches (you know the librarian in me had to do this), here’s what I found (thank you Ipsy):

A Lip Oil treats, soothes and nourishes your lips all while giving you a pouty look. A Lip gloss just gives you a pouty look (at least this is my understanding). Now, y’all already know this but I’ll say it again in case this is your first time on my blog: I am not the biggest lip gloss fan. I’ve always been a matte-lipstick/lip stain girl. Not to say I didn’t go through a lip gloss phase in my pre-teen era (oh man, remember those Bonne Belle roll ons from Shopper’s Drug Mart? Yeah, I had tons of those). But the older I’ve gotten, the more I’ve strayed away from glosses. So how can Dior and the rest of the millenials/gen Z convince me that a lip OIL is better?

Dior describes this product as “a nurturing, glossy lip oil that protects and enhances the lips, bringing out their natural colour”. When I read the last statement, I wondered if this lip oil adjusts to the pH levels on your lips to give you a perfect shade! And I was right. It has “colour reviver technology”. Which basically gives you a custom colour based on the moisture levels of your lips (okay this is cool). This lip oil is made with cherry oil, which is meant to protect your lips against stress factors and drying. Dior claims this product to be non-sticky & non-greasy…which to me was also an interesting statement given this is an oil!

I picked up the shade Cherry because well, Tiktok convinced me to. And also because it looks really pretty in the bottle! The bottle is pretty standard looking for Dior. The doe foot applicator is unique in the sense that it’s made to curve and glide on your lips pretty effortlessly. You can see the swatches below:

THIS IS AMAZING. Every thing any one has said about this product is completely true. The hype is real. THIS IS AMAZING (it’s so good I had to say it twice). First of all, this lip oil is not sticky or greasy…which I honestly couldn’t believe until I had this on my lips. The best part about this lip oil is the fact that it stayed on my lips allllllll day. Like, I am not even kidding. It makes your lips look super pouty and shiny! Every claim Dior has made is true. The colour also looks really nice on my lips, I mean it’s not super saturated but it def added a tint. Is this product worth the hefty $44 (CDN) price? HUNDRED PERCENT! Think of it as an investment for your lips. And I say this because, I’ve used this religiously now for a month and when I don’t use this my lips still feel moisturized. So there’s def something in there that is doing wonders for the way my lips look and feel. Do you need all the shades? No. Honestly, I think one of these is good enough because it does give you a custom-ish shade based on the colour in the bottle. I use this on days I’m running errands or just need to put something on my lips. This is perfect for everyday use and I’m super happy about this…who knew, Daff Diaries would love lip oils!

See you in the next post!

Review: Benefit Cosmetics’ Fouroscope Fire Queen Palette

Hi, welcome back! Hope you’re having an awesome week! And if you’re not, it’s okay. It’s been that kind of a year. My advice? Grab a cup of coffee, tea, glass of wine, or in my case a ginormous tumbler of iced coffee (honestly, what would my life be without iced coffee?) and just sit by a lake or on a couch and watch a movie….or read all my posts on this blog!

This week I’ve got a review for you, so sit back and enjoy!

When I saw this alllll over Benefit Cosmetics’ social media accounts, I was more than curious. I mean anyone who knows me, knows that I have a slightly weird obsession with horoscopes (a true Aries gal here). So when I saw that Benefit Cosmetics put out face palettes based on Earth, Fire and Air Signs–I knew I had to get my hands on the Fire Queen Palette because Aries, my star sign, is a Fire sign. I will add that Water signs sort of got screwed over because there is no Water mermaid (I made the mermaid part up lol) palette. Thus, proving that you perhaps don’t need to be the particular sign to own any of the palettes (lol).

The Palette

True to its name, the Fire Queen palette is packaged in bright orange packaging. Also, can we talk about how gorgeous the art is on the palette? It’s very graphic novel inspired and I’m all for it. I guess it’s called Fouroscope because one, it has 4 different products in each palette and two, it’s a fun play on the word horoscope (cute and witty). CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE SIZE OF THIS PALETTE? How travel friendly is this? And it has a mirror!! Benefit you win for making sure that was included.

What’s inside?

Benefit describes as a deep berry bronze cheek palette…and that’s what it exactly is. The Fire Queen Palette has the iconic Hoola bronzer (full size), Starlette blush (not full size), Soulstice blush (full size) and Blaze highlighter. The names for these are so iconic and so fire (ha ha see what I did there….okay enough of my jokes lol). It also comes with an info guide card, that shows you how to place these products on the face. It’s up to you if you want to follow it–I mean YOU make your own beauty rules.

The Shades

As mentioned, there are 2 full size products and 2 minis (which let’s be real aren’t THAT mini) in this palette.

Hoola: the ICONIC matte bronzer that’s not orange (because that’s all I care about…maybe one day i’ll share my self tanner horror stories lol). I’ve used Hoola for YEARS and all I can say is this is truly one of the best bronzers out there on the market!

Starlette: candy pink (it’s new and exclusive to this palette). I absolutely love this shade and can see myself finishing this quickly. Also, I love the name…for obvious reasons.

Soulstice: berry blush that’s sheeny but not glittery (if that makes sense…basically you won’t look like a shiny glitter mirror ball). I won’t lie, I don’t like shiny blush BUT I will make an exception for this….I *gasp* love it. FYI, the combination of Starlette and Soulstice looks so nice that I’ve decided that’s going to be my go-to-blush combo this summer!

Blaze: peach pink highlighter that’s not like in your face but super subtle. I like this highlighter…it sort of reminds me of their iconic High Beam highligher (which really truly was one of the core reasons why highlighters became a thing back in the day). You can def build this up if you want to be super snatched.

Hoola, Starlette, Soulstice, Blaze (in order from top to bottom)

The Review

Dolls, I LOVE this palette. Since this palette got to my house, I’ve used it pretty much every single time I did my makeup (which is basically me going out to the grocery store, coffee runs and work). I love how complimentary the shades are to one another. You can seriously create some fun bold and subtle looks with this ONE palette. It’s also super easy to use! If you’re just dabbling into face palettes, the guide card is super helpful. I also love the size of this palette. If you’re going away for the weekend, all you’re going to need is this one palette in addition to a foundation, liner, mascara and setting spray because you can also create eye looks with this palette.

In terms of the other palettes in this range (Earth Angel and Air Goddess–okay these names win), I can def say they look promising. If Fire Queen is this fire, I am certain the others are as equally awesome. At a quick glance, they are def all different-ish (some shades re-appear in the other palettes) from one another. If deep berry isn’t your thing, then check out the other palettes!

In terms of price, this palette is WORTH EVERY PENNY. One full sized Hoola Bronzer costs $40 (CDN). For $8(CDN) more, you get another full sized exclusive product with two mini (but really not that mini) products as well. So it’s super worth it! And did I mention, it’s incredibly pigmented? If you want a subtle look, use a light hand. However, for a bolder look, you can for sure build up all the shades!

Rating

TEN THOUSAND OUT OF TEN (pretty obvious that you need this in your life).

Where can you get it and the price

Sephora, Benefit Cosmetics and any Benefit Cosmetics retailer for $48 (CDN)

See ya next week Dolls! x

10 Makeup Tricks for when you’re sick

fullsizeoutput_13c6

As I’m currently laying in bed and battling a terrible cold, I figured I’d share some tips and tricks I use on days that I’m feeling sick and don’t want to wear makeup! Usually, this is the LAST thing on my mind when I’m under the weather but I swear by these when I’m just not feeling it!

  1. Tinted Moisturizers: These are probably the ONLY thing I wear when I’m sick. Seriously, these are miracle savers because not only does it hydrate your skin but it adds colour to a dull complexion! My favourite ones are by Charlotte Tilbury and Origins. The Charlotte Tilbury one adds a glow to your face and literally makes you feel better! The Origins one adds a boost of energy to my skin and my day!
  2. Tinted Brow Gel: I use these not only when I’m under the weather but also in between getting my brows done! I love Glossier’s boy brow because not only does it shape and tame the brows, it also adds colour! So simple and easy to polish up your sick day!
  3. Mascara & Lash Curler: Curling your lashes opens up your eyes and basically wakes you up right away! Mascara defines the lashes and if you wiggle at the base it adds a little bit of colour to the base of your lashes!
  4. Concealer: Dabbing concealer that matches your face shade on red spots is amazing! I love Tarte’s shape tape & YSL’s Touche Éclat!
  5. Setting Powder/Spray: When I’m battling a cold, I usually wear a blurring primer with flesh toned setting powder and then call it a day! Seriously, this evens out your skin tone and makes you look less fatigued. I swear by MAC’s mineralize skin finish in Medium Deep. It’s the closest to my skin tone! As for setting spray, I can’t seem to use anything other than the Urban Decay All Nighter. This doesn’t let your makeup move, even if you’re battling the sniffles!
  6. Tinted Lip Balm or Blotted Lip: On days I don’t feel like wearing makeup or am not feeling well, I’ll either wear a blotted lip or a tinted lip balm. For the blotted lip, I love using a nude shade (like this one). I put some lipstick in the middle of my lips, then I use my fingers to blend. This gives it a stained lip effect and lasts all day! I am also loving Maybelline’s BabyLips tinted Lip balms too.
  7. Bronzer: This is a multi-use product and it’s probably my go-to on days I’m not feeling that great at all! You can use it as a bronzer, as an eye shadow, as a contour or as an eye liner! Seriously, the possibilities are endless! Benefit’s Hoola and NARS’ Laguna bronzer are my favs!
  8. Blurring Primer: All hail whoever created these because THIS is the real MVP of sick days/fatigue days/days you’re not feeling it. I cannot stress how much wearing this (after your moisturizer) changes the appearance of your skin! Too Faced’s Hangover Primer is one of my favs! I also love Benefit’s Porefessional and Milk Makeup’s Blur stick are great too. The best part about these is you can wear these by themselves and you’ll get the same effect!
  9. Eye Cream: NOTHING beats a good eye cream to depuff those under eyes on a sick day! Seriously, I cannot stress how much this will make you feel better instantly! I swear by Origins’ Ginzing Eye cream but lately I’ve been loving Bobbi Brown’s eye cream too!
  10. Face Mask/Facial Mists: Nothing makes me feel better than a face mask! Plus, this pulls toxins out of your face to give it a healthy glow! Sometimes, I use the Origins’ Retexturizing Face Mask and then follow through with my skincare routine on sick days! I love a good facial mist too! Mario Badescu’s facial sprays wake me and my skin up, making the day SO much better!

If none of these are doing it for you, don’t even bother with makeup! Put on a good moisturizer and go about your day!

Review: First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads

fullsizeoutput_1324

First Aid Beauty has been raved about for a while now and even though I heard a lot about it, I had never tried any of their products! So when I saw that Sephora’s 500 pt gift set was a First Aid Beauty Skin care set, I jumped quickly to give them a try! One of the products in the gift set was this particular product. After using 10 pads of this, I knew I had to buy the full size!

fullsizeoutput_1325

What is it: This is a daily treatment pad that contains lactic and glycolic acids to exfoliate, tone and brighten all skin types. This has been created for people who are looking to improve dullness in their skin as well as uneven skin tone. You can use this twice a day or once a day. It’s completely up to you! The formula also includes cucumber and Indian gooseberry, which targets toning your skin. It also has lemon peel and liquorice root for a bright glowy complexion! Not only does it target uneven skin tone, it also helps improve skin’s texture! It’s safe to use for sensitive skin!

fullsizeoutput_1326

The Good: OMG. This has improved the texture of my skin overnight. Like not even kidding. Initially, I was worried that it might break me out but it did nothing of that sort. After two weeks of using it day and night, I found the dark spots around my mouth start to fade. It was not drastic but I could definitely see a difference. My skin felt brighter and healthier. I found that this layered with other skin products and makeup so well! The smell isn’t overpowering and these pads are SO easy to use. I use the exfoliating part to wipe first and then with the smooth side I do one last swipe. I just loved how it made my skin feel! I’m on my second container now!

fullsizeoutput_1327

The Bad: Nothing!

Overall Rating: 9/10 ($37 for 60 pads & $18.50 for 28 pads, I got mine at Sephora)

Review: Esqido Gel Eyeliner in Black & Brown

fullsizeoutput_1217

When Esqido sent me these babies to try out, I was so excited! If you have been long time readers of this blog, then you already know how obsessed I am with eyeliners! Seriously. I cannot go anywhere without some sort of eyeliner on my lids or waterline!

fullsizeoutput_1218

What is it: These eyeliners are gel eyeliners that come in two shades: Black and Brown. It is pigmented, silky smooth and comes in the form of a retractable and sharpenable pen! One of my favourite things about these liners are the fact they come with an air-tight silicon ring closure around the top of the pencil. This helps the liner not dry out and last long! The pencils also come with a built-in sharpener attached at the bottom of the pencil! You can buy these online on Esqido’s website for $16 a pop (be sure to visit their website soon because they’re having a promo for these liners where you can get them both for the price of one!).

IMG_1679

The Pros: Let’s talk about how gel liners are literally the best thing ever created on this planet. Gel liners are perfect for everyday use because they glide on smooth and are extremely easy to use. Although, the down side to gel liners are that they tend to dry out a lot sooner than most eyeliners. This is NOT the case with Esqido’s liners. I have never been SO impressed with a gel liner! Even though these were sent to me, I can definitely tell you that I will hundred percent purchase these once I’m done using the two colours. The formula of these are incredible! It’s smooth, soft and super pigmented! One of the main reasons why I love these so much is because they lasted all day and all night on my eyes without smudging at all! I used them on my waterline and it stayed put! One swipe is all you need for these because they are incredibly pigmented. Also, I love that it’s retractable, making it easy to use when you’re traveling! If you want a precise tip all the time, you can use the sharpener attached at the bottom of the pencil (it’s SOO easy to use). These also pair well with ANY make up looks and false lashes! Another thing I loved about this was that it blended super well when I was doing a smoky eye look. This didn’t irritate my eyes nor did it dry out! Seriously, if you’re in the market to try a good gel liner this is it! They’re also matte. It definitely was waterproof because I wore these to a wedding last weekend and it did NOT smudge through the tears.

The Cons: GIVE ME MORE COLOURS! Currently, it is only available in Brown and Black but I can’t wait for bold colours, Esqido make this happen!!

Review: Tatcha Silk Canvas Protective Primer

fullsizeoutput_11ec

What: The Tatcha Silk Canvas Primer is a makeup primer that helps your makeup last longer all while blurring your skin. Along with doing that, it also acts as a protective wall to keep makeup out of your skin so that you don’t get breakouts! This is a super high-end primer, retailing for $62 CDN at Sephora. The balm is packaged in a big circular case and it comes with a disc, which you can use to get the right amount of primer for your face! You can use this all over your face, your eye lids and your lips for a flawless makeup application. This blurs pores, controls oiliness and evens out your skin tone. The primer contains silk extracts too nourish the skin, leaving a smooth base for your makeup giving you a soft focus finish. There are also anti-pollution natural active ingredients in this primer. This creates a barrier between the world and skin. It also has hadasei-3 which is made up of great tea, rice and algae extracts; giving you a youthful and healthy skin!

fullsizeoutput_11f2

The Good: Seriously, I don’t think I’ve ever come across a makeup primer like this before. I’ve had a ton favourites but I think this one takes the cake for me. It was super cool to apply, with the disc and all. But most importantly, my makeup looked flawless. This was the first time (in a LONG time) that I had practically everyone who talked to me ask me how I achieved the perfect makeup look. Seriously. Now you know. It’s because of this product. My skin felt smooth, soft and this was super easy to apply. A little goes a long way. The texture of this formula is incredible! It’s silky smooth (duh) and it blends flawlessly when applied to your face, lids and/or lips. My makeup lasted all night long. In fact, I had to use makeup remover to take all of it off! I know a lot of people might stay away from this because of its price tag…but honestly, think of it as an investment for your skin in the long run! In the past couple months, I’ve learned that the only way you can get flawless makeup is if you work on your skin. Using products that benefit your skin is important and this product will do that for you! I have extremely sensitive and combination skin; and this did not irritate my skin at all! No breakouts, no redness, no nothing! My face was radiant and my skin felt good! The packaging is cute! It comes with a disc and instructions on how to use that disc to get the right amount of product for your face. I’ve used this primer sooooo many times and I have yet to make a major dent! Honestly, this is literally the best primer I have ever used! There’s no leftover residue on your face and it feels super lux!

Review: MAC’s Hyper Real Glow in Flash+Awe & Get It Glowin’

fullsizeoutput_ea5

When MAC finally decided to come out with highlighter palettes, I wasn’t sure of what to expect. Individually, MAC highlighters can often be a hit or a miss for me so I was a little skeptical. I finally got my hands on both of these palettes and I’m here with a review of BOTH the palettes for you!

IMG_9119 2

What is it: MAC cosmetics put out two highlighter palettes, one in a pink shade zone and the other in a gold shade zone. Each palette comes with three shades and a mirror (score, you know how much I love my palettes to always have mirrors). Hyper Real Glow in Flash+Awe is a pinky/champagne highlighter palette. Hyper Real Glow in Get it Glowin’ is a golden highlighter palette. Both palettes claim to have formulas that will work for any skin type and tone. Although, the golden palette is geared towards darker skin dolls and the pink palette is for the lighter skin dolls. You can use these shades together or individually to get the most natural glow!

fullsizeoutput_eab

Flash+Awe Shades: Light Of The Party is a flesh toned shimmery peachy pink. Rosy Glow is a medium toned shimmer shell pink. Flash+Awe is a pale pink with silver shimmer.

fullsizeoutput_ea8

Get It Glowin’ Shades: Rosy Cheer is a rich golden bronze with fine gold shimmer. Get it Glowin’ is a peachy nude with fine gold shimmer. Gold Coasting is a champagne gold with gold shimmer.

fullsizeoutput_eaa

The Good: Okay, remember how I said I was skeptical about these palettes at the beginning of this post? Well, I was wrong. I shouldn’t have been skeptical because these highlighters are actually so good! In fact, all six shades did not disappoint! Of course, it’s up to you individually to decide which shade you want to use to highlight what…but I can safely say, each one of these shades looked radiant on my skin tone! The formula of these babies are amazing! It’s buttery soft to touch and I noticed I had zero fall out (even though MAC claims there might be some). Also, because they’re so smooth and soft, it’s incredibly easy to blend! Every time I’ve used any of these highlights, I always get asked what I’m wearing! Not only can you use this to highlight the high points of your face, you can use these as eye shadows (add fix+ and get foiled shadows!). Rosy Cheer can used to highlight your neck and legs too! Rosy Cheer is perfect to add to the centre of your lips when you’re rocking a super matte lip to add some definition. As you can see, I’m all about versatile products especially when you’re paying a pretty high price for these palettes! I love the look of these highlighters on my face. I find them to be natural and not glittery (despite having shimmer). The packaging of this product is pretty sleek! I love how I can slip it into my makeup bag if I’m traveling. All in all, both these palettes are pretty good!

(Flash+Awe Swatches)

The Bad: The price point might be a little bothersome for some. But you don’t have to get both of them, you can get one based on your skin tone!

Overall Rating: 9/10 (you can get yours at MAC for $48 a pop)

Review: Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer in Tan Sand & Light Medium

fullsizeoutput_ce2

You guys, these might be the best concealers I’ve ever used. Tarte’s Shape Tape Contour Concealers have been raved about ever since they were introduced into the beauty world!

fullsizeoutput_cdf

What is it: A full-coverage concealer that brightens and smooths your skin for a flawless matte finish! The reason why it’s called “shape tape” is because these concealers can also be used to contour and literally “shape” your face. It’s perfect for all skin types and skin tones. No matter what your skin problems are, these babies will help you achieve the makeup look you’re looking to create! In fact, they claim you don’t even need to set these concealers at all! Ingredients include mango seed and shea butters that are meant to naturally illuminate your complexion! I picked up the shade Tan Sand and Light Medium. I use Tan Sand during the summer as well as to cover any blemishes. I also use it as an eyeshadow primer and if I want to do a cut-crease look! I use Light Medium under my eyes and as an eyeshadow primer, IF I want brighter eyeshadow colours to pop!

The Good: Y’all. This concealer is amazing. Like I can’t even stress how amazing these are! The formula of these are so creamy. It’s easy to blend and it doesn’t feel like you have anything on! My favourite part about this product has to be the applicator wand! It’s so easy to apply that even someone who knows nothing about concealing and contouring can master it! The other thing I love about this is the fact that it doesn’t move once you’ve applied it. I’ve never had it crease! It also stays on for what seems like forever and I’m all about this! I honestly think everyone should own this concealer. It’s matte. It’s so blendable. It’s perfect. The concealers aren’t watery are very opaque without being cakey!

The Bad: N O T H I N G!

Overall Rating: 10/10 (You can get yourself one at tartecosmetics.com or your local Ulta store for $27, that’s where I got mine!)
